The Woes of Being the Youngest Child
I will always and forever be the youngest child.
The baby.
The princess.
Forever caught as a child in the minds of my elders.
Everything of mine, secondhand.
Everything I am, secondhand.
No, I'll never be as much of a success as A******.
Or as ambitious as J****.
Or as happy as T*****.
Or as perfect as J********.
I will never be able to grow up in my families minds, although I already have in my own.
I will always be in an involuntary spotlight.
Caught forever as a the rosy cheeked, smiling, spoiled child I once was.
Always the subject on the phone with a cousin, or an auntie.
Never able to fade in the background.
Always immature and selfish.
Always and forever the youngest child.
