Be Honest

By Amber Jones

I have a friend and

when he smiles everyday,

I’m reminded of our miserable trend.

“Like two peas in a pod”, they’d say,

then why did it always have to end?

I once told a lie

and you should know,

it’s a poison that spreads. Why?

I knew not where to go,

I got stuck in the lies.

I was a shattered soul,

it’s sad, but true;

he once made me whole,

now I break in two.

A laugh that breaks and

a smile that kills;

no one takes a fake

and trust never refills.

Now, I sit here all alone,

writing this sad verse.

If you want to make someone your own

be honest; don’t rehearse.
