Broken Hearted Poetry

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

I have always thought

That a broken hearted poet

Was a most romantic thing;

Full of creativity and promise

And a love once lost

Or one who had no intention

Of keeping to eternally,

Perhaps a certain unseen sadness

Is what drives a poet to write

And spin greatness in black ink

Or perhaps it is a longing

To be remembered forever and be loved

Though you will never be for who you are

Only what greatness you spin in ink
