Bumblebee

By Matt Decker

Small wings, no lift?
Shortchanged, what gift?

Odds against me?
I can't win?

What's within me?
How and when

Will I get off the ground
And buzz around?

No more bound
Up, not down

Look at me
What do you see?

An earthly impossibility?
The reality of a bumblebee

But you need
To take into account

That your beliefs about me
Don't really count

I know who I am
And what I can achieve

The thing you can't see
Is what hides within me

Keep on doubting
Keep on assuming

I'll keep on buzzing
I'll keep on zooming

So I am fuzzy
But fast are my wings

They may be little
But don't forget about my sting

You say I can't fly
But somehow I do it

You say I might die
But I won't listen to it

You say I shouldn't try
But there's nothing to it

I am a bumblebee
Yes it's true

The big question is
What are you?
