cathedral

Listening to music

Beneath the blankets in my bed

Outside, it’s silent

But there’s a concert in my head

Bass loud enough to drown the pain

Hyping myself up

So I can rise

Tomorrow, do it all again.

This cathedral is one slip from falling down,

But it’s held together mostly.

You'll notice my aluminum foil crown

If you look too closely.

It shines like gold

Or so I’ve been told

So many people think well of me

They see what I struggle to see.

This cathedral

Shining crumbling cathedral of mine.

Shadows between the pillars

Growing with passage of time

Sometimes there’s more than one

Sometimes it’s just me

Friends float in and out

But I’m still lonely

Sitting here in this cathedral

Shining crumbling cathedral of mine.

Author Notes: just something i thought of the other day. hope it's helpful to someone.
