A Christmas Tale

By Anthony E

In the cold North Pole

Where the snow always falls

There were two best friends

One small and one tall

Bunny wore his only scarf

It was as red as a rose

Snowman had two eyes of coal

And a bright orange carrot nose

It was early on Christmas Eve

With lights and presents everywhere

But they did not have much money

To buy each other presents this year.

Bunny loved his red scarf

It kept him warm from the cold

But he wrapped it up for Snowman

It was a gift from his heart and soul

Snowman went to the Farmer’s Market

Carrots were Bunny’s favorite food

But Snowman did not have enough money

Now what was he going to do?

The next morning the sun arose

Christmas was finally here

Bunny had his present all wrapped

It was his favorite time of year

Snowman came down from the east

The sun shined brightly over the cliffs

Bunny could not see Snowman’s face

As he held Snowman’s Christmas gift

Snowman untied the bow

And unwrapped the scarf of red

A smile stretched across his white snow

As Snowman bowed his frosty head

Snowman handed Bunny a present

It was put inside a long thin box

Bunny opened it with a smile on his face

While Snowman looked up and watched

Bunny unwrapped his present

It was a carrot, bright orange and long

Bunny looked at Snowman

And Snowman’s carrot nose was gone

They both held their presents and laughed

A Christmas hug, pure joy and a tear or two

It’s amazing when you think of others

Best Friends have a way of coming through
