(Contemplations Of Meleticism) Στοχασμοί του Μελετικισμού

-From the Meletic Scrolls.
(Be one with To Ena, the cosmos and nature)
To be one with (To Ένa) the One is to be one with the ancient cosmos and nature. It is to be conscious about the existential world. To let the gentle flow enter your body, mind and soul, connecting with cosmic flow gracefully, as it emanates from within.
It is an experience like no other, for it is pure in its essence and origin. People tend to dismiss the relevance of this form of connection as being either spiritual or supernatural, when it is mostly natural in its conception. To Ena unfolds itself as the source of the emanation of which we belong to its sequence of being. It is through this emanation that we are one with To Ena.
The nature of life is universal. It does not require that you distract yourself from life completely. It only means that you take some time in your life to bond with the cosmos and nature through To Ena. That which is a witness to your existence is ultimately the reference to your consciousness. After all, it is your consciousness that guides you in the intrinsic path of life.
As a mortal being that you are, you are taught either to value life or to seek value from it. Your thoughts are the direct instrument to your consciousness. The energy and vibe you create cannot be destroyed so easily, if you have mental fortitude. To discover that you are able to channel your thoughts through meditation or contemplation is obtaining a power within you.
A natural flow that connects with the cosmos, and reflects upon your soul. You learn to discern clearly the value of the existence of nature with your human nature. What you truly recognise is the clear understanding of your perception of the cosmos. It is not about giving back to nature what has been given to you, but more respecting nature.
You cannot return what was given in its originality, for that essence has been altered in some capacity. There is a simplicity in the notion that you can ascribe meaning to the cosmos and discover its underlying relevance through To Ena.
(The foundation of a belief)
In life, you cannot sustain your thoughts with mere knowledge and wisdom. You must validate those things with something that is rational. The foundation of a belief is that validity. When you have a universal model that represents the principles of the truth, then you have a purpose for your thinking.
It does not mean it is a perfect model. To be a perfect model, it would have to be applied by a person who is flawless in nature. There are three components to an authentic belief that makes it relative and credible. These components are logic, substance and meaning.
Philosophy is that belief. It provides the basis to these three components, and it serves to reassure you that you have rationality to your thoughts and perseverance to your consciousness. How you approach philosophy, depends on how you perceive life. This is fundamental to any belief and practice.
To Ena, nature, human nature and the cosmos, require meaning. For this reason, they require your introspective understanding. Why the world is as it is? A person with sufficient knowledge of the world will learn afterwards that there is more than just living.
The world does not revolve around your existence, but its evolving existence is what you should comprehend. If you take for granted the world you live in, you shall only be seeing a portion of that world that does not embody the true concept of its nature.
Philosophy is a belief that professes no divinity or absolute science. Instead, it relies on the principles of its practice and the validity of its foundation. It can agree with science. However, philosophy is not measured by science. The greatest reward that philosophy has, is the reason for its practice. A foundation of a belief is more sustainable than a sole reference to science or doctrine.
(Self-acceptance)
Philosophy teaches you that you should value yourself more than forsaking yourself to the hardships of life. Self-acceptance is about being true to yourself and embracing the notion that you are capable of achieving eudaimonia, if you only took the time to meditate the meaning of what happiness implies.
When you accept who you truly are, you have begun the process of knowing how much potential you have and the capacity to make things in life relevant to your comprehension. It is not about avoiding self-destruction or negating your reality.
Instead, it is about learning to cope with the struggles you confront and focusing on your inner strength. Your quintessence is reflected in the path you take and in the virtues you demonstrate. Being humble will teach you to recognise your faults and accept your mortality.
By acknowledging your needs, you then establish the importance of aspirations. If you do not inspire yourself, what do you expect will happen? Your expectations in life should meet your potential. This does not signify that you should strive for perfection or goals that you cannot achieve.
It means to be realistic about what you need than what you should covet. It is not facile to admit to your physical limitations, but this should not impede your will to succeed. Confiding in yourself will enhance your mental fortitude. Your experiences will make you see the reality of your nature and value more the abilities you have.
There are people who live an entire life of falsehood and insecurity and never reveal nor discover their true selves. This they do willingly or knowingly. Listen to your soul if you are to find inner peace. Remember that the difficulty is not rejecting yourself, but accepting yourself.
(Triumphing over insecurities)
It is not irrational to concede to the thought that doubts are natural than to merely assume that they are unnatural. Triumphing over insecurities is about being conscious of your limitations and at the same time confident of your potentiality. It is the awakening of the mind and a determination of the inner self.
There are things that are practical and other things that you convert into problems. Problems in themselves do not arise from the nothing. They are the result of your insecurities to confront them or find a solution to them. Until you overcome your insecurities, you shall remain a hostage to them.
It is not an easy thing to accomplish alone, but with the ideal inspiration, the difficulty can be lessened. Find encouragement in the comfort that you are mortal. You have the capacity in you to recognise your faults as well as your deeds. Your virtues serve the purpose to guide you in life.
When you think that life is cruel, you tend to seek escape in your solitude and avoid your reality. No one is born perfect. Nor does someone obtain perfection, without compromising their ethics. What causes your insecurities can be the consequence of many things. What you should concern yourself more is how do you change your perspective?
It begins with your understanding of the main cause. Society can be blamed for the manner in which we label or judge people. It can impose upon people, in particular the youth, the false image that they are taught or told to follow blindly.
It is when you look into a mirror and do not see the image that you should perfect that you shall finally see your actual truth. Be true to yourself. You will discover, who you are in essence. The only person that can hold you back is you. You are the one person who you cannot lie to.
(Be your own master)
In the present world that we live in, there are indifferent masters of others and resilient masters of their own will. Be your own master means that you should not be a slave to the injustice imposed upon you by others, and what you should believe is the empowerment of the mind. Only then, you shall be freed from the bondage that shackles your fortitude.
It is your determination that disciplines you to learn about the importance of life and the reason why you should never compromise your virtues, for the sake of pleasing others or pleasing your own ego. If you are to be ethical, then you must be the master of your life, before you dare to proceed with the challenge of living in accordance to your virtuous disposition.
Meleticism is about empowering your will and strengthening the mind. It is a practical philosophy that teaches you to never give up hope or render to anyone's brutal desires or whims.
This inherent fortitude, that you have is one that will guide you and build your judgement and rationality. These two things, in particular, are what makes you worthy of your deeds. The practice of philosophy permits you to seek and discover the true essence of your ethos.
You should focus on the precise thought that you have the ability to transform yourself from being controlled by others than being in control of your decisions and actions. If you do not end the cycle of this oppression, then you shall remain powerless to change your fate. No person should be denied felicity or deprived of emancipation.
Everyone is deserving of choosing the life desired to live. It is a conviction that you uphold and a yearning to progress. Whatever be the difficult obstacles that must be overcome, the reward lies not in satisfying your ego, but revealing your courage. It is that courage that will eventually exemplify your virtues.
(Reap your rewards from your virtues)
In life, there are many lessons to learn, as there many benefits to value. To reap your rewards from your virtues means to earn what you have forged with diligence. With perseverance, you learn the importance of doing for yourself and embracing your mental fortitude that serves to inspire you. It also teaches you to be practical and modest in your comportment.
Temperance along with honesty are two fundamental characteristics that are worthy of their virtues. Your merits should not be given to you on a sliver platter. You must earn them. In life, you could either seek the praise of others or gain their respect with your genuine effort.
It is not about toiling in your endless drudgery, but more demonstrating your courage and determination, amidst the face of adversity. The way you overcome your adversities will make you stronger in your virtues. This is the model to be emulated.
Your ability to adapt to the emerging changes in your life will ultimately build your character. It will also remind you that you are capable of doing for yourself, if you only realise your potential. It is your character that serves to inspire you and fulfil your desired aspirations.
In time, you reap the harvest that you have sowed with your perseverance. The greatest reward that you could receive from others is the recognition of your virtues. This does not imply that you should clamour for this recognition. It is a strife that is not guaranteed the praise of others. Nor should you seek it to please your ego.
Being wise teaches you to perceive the world through the lens of your reality. A virtuous life is what you should remember to adhere to its principle. The need to be praised should never supersede the need to be humble. That is the thing you should not forget.
(Change)
When discussing the topic of change, you should be first cognisant of what it implies, then understand what it represents to you. The world you live in is constantly changing and so are people. It is facile to get absorbed in the whims of change, but the change that I am speaking of, is one that deals more with the nature of your life.
It can be the new course to take in life, or simply a new growth in one's ethos. Life I believe should be about episodes you experience than a continual repetition of meaningless worth. Change for some people is difficult to accept. You should not fear it or avoid it, if that change is for the best.
Success is not guaranteed with change. Nor should it be conditioned to your failure. However, you should measure your success in life, with what you have earned. That in itself is enough to serve as your main inspiration.
Change can be described and interpreted in many ways. There is change that is necessary to your well-being and there is change that is fundamental to your life. Both of these types of changes are seen as more positive than the negative.
Those changes that corrupt your character with vices are not only unnecessary, but they are also detrimental. It is your wisdom that will make you reflect and your consciousness that will guide you, amidst your doubts and adversities. Change is a natural part of your human nature. It allows you to perceive things that require meaning in life. It is not just an action taken. It is also a decision made.
The lesson that should be learnt is that change reminds you, about whom you truly are and where you want to be in life. Change is like a compass. It can lead you to the discovery of the world and your inner self. How you react to change depends on your attitude.
(Listen more and talk less)
The idea that you should be receptive to the notion that you should listen more and talk less, is a lesson you should learn to apply more often in your life. It makes you wiser and displays your patience. It is not about suppressing your thoughts or voice, but about understanding how to better relate to others and how to present your ethics with common sense.
Sometimes you indulge yourself in conversations that are either meaningful or meaningless. This is the reason why you should utilise your mind. You should teach yourself that it is futile to attempt to convey your thoughts with excessive words.
Simply, you should listen more and talk less. This method will allow you to be more convincing in your arguments, and in the manner in which you deal with people. It is important that you master this skill, if you are to be effective in your practicality.
When you compare yourself to others, you seldom think about your listening skill. You are more concerned with defending your position than yielding to the faculty of reason. Listening more makes you cognisant about the relevance of the world and the truth. After all, it is the truth that you seek when you are listening.
Every person has experiences and from those experiences, that person either recognises the mistakes or ignores them. To ignore them is imprudent. Philosophy teaches you to not only perceive things about the world, but to perceive things about yourself. In essence, you can manifest your intellect with fewer words. This does not imply that you need to be ignorant.
Instead, it reminds you that you are capable of achieving the objective of being understood. It also reminds you that things in general, can be much more coherent, when they are then simplified in their structure.
(The art of questioning)
Socrates once devised a method of enquiry that suited his philosophical ideas. The art of questioning is the approach to mastering your thoughts and at the same time validating your assumptions. It is a method that is conducive to the way you think. When you apply this method, you are enabling a process that begins with mere thoughts and ends with innovative ideas.
It is not about doubting everything or about being presumptuous. Instead, it is more a reflection of your knowledge. Naturally, you gain knowledge by experience, but you also gain knowledge through meticulous observation. What is good about that knowledge, if you do not question its validity?
Ergo, your natural inclination to ask a question is just as relevant, as it is to reveal the answers that you have ascertained. Philosophy is an intellectual tool that you should use, in order to advance your thoughts, not sequester them.
Questions are a central part of the development of your intelligence, as they are to your wisdom. Perhaps you will never be able to answer every question with rationality, but you can surmise that questioning the reason of something is not only a valid point, it is logical as well. If you are to learn the art of questioning, you must begin with your confidence to enquire.
The world is vast and life is ephemeral. For that reason, you should strive to ameliorate your knowledge. You do this by focusing on the challenge you impose yourself to succeed in the endeavour of understanding the things that you do not know, or those things that you do know.
The simplicity in the argument is seen in the manner in which you deal with your thoughts daily. In the end, what should matter is what you contemplate and effectuate from your questioning. That will guide you in life and make you more aware about the relevance of your answers.
(Meditate your thoughts)
When you are meditating your thoughts, you are not only reflecting on things, but as well you are conscious about the world. You become one with the cosmos in the universal sense. It is the moment that you embrace and the acknowledgement of your life. It is when you find truth in your soul. What corresponds to that truth will be seen in the decisions you make.
Meditation is not merely about being serious with your mind. It is about the recognition of humanity. It is a time, when you discover deep things about yourself good or bad in their characteristics. You discover your human nature. It also serves the purpose to relate more with nature.
The world that you live in is full of complexities created by man. Bear witness to the life that should be lived and be an influence to others. Take time to appreciate the wonders of life and seek the path to enlightenment.
You might not be able to change the entire world, but you can change yourself, with just your will. Seek challenges in worthy causes and find meaning to life. Demonstrate your conviction and do not allow pessimism to inundate you with guilt.
Convince yourself that you possess the power to attempt to change the course of your fate. Meditation is the method that establishes the direct connection between the mind, body and soul. It is considered sound and productive to your reasoning. Its effects are paramount to your thoughts. It has a genuine purpose, and it is reliable too.
People often make things seem more complicated than what they are. Very few people actually spend time dealing with their contemplations. They seek answers elsewhere. A light cannot guide you, if there is only darkness. That is the reason you need to meditate.
(Patience is a virtue)
You have grown up with the adage of patience is a virtue. In philosophy this is not only an adage, but as well a practice. For centuries people have attempted to make sense of this virtue. It sounds logical in its essence and is a rational thought. The problem is that few people know how to actually apply and practise this virtue correctly.
Thus, the difficulty is accepting that patience is indeed feasible. There are so many factors that contribute to your impatience than your patience. You get easily stressed and angry, or you become too emotional than rational.
Either way, the consequences will dictate your behaviour good or bad. The practice of meditation is a good instrument to use, when one is burdened or occupied with unnecessary tension. You take a deep breath and absorb the positive energy, then you deal with your issues at hand.
There are many benefits to meditation, but the greatest recipient is patience. Virtues are meant to enlighten your mind and make you aware of the capability you have to control your actions. Impatience is not something unnatural.
It is not about conforming yourself to the image of what you should be like towards others, but understanding that emoting impatient behaviour will not conduce you to reason. As in the case of reasoning, patience is meant to perceive the patterns of your thoughts and the irrationality of your decisions, when they are erroneous in their proposition.
Some people will never be able to master impatience, just as other people will be able to demonstrate their patience in a more effective manner. In conclusion, you should be more conscious about your thoughts than more concerned about what others might perceive of you. The next time you are impatient, remember that your worst foe is you.
(Good and bad)
The concepts of the agathon (“good”) and the kakon (“bad”), are deeply ingrained in the teachings of philosophy, ever since Ancient Greece. It is better to understand their distinction with philosophy than religion, for it is a concept that deviates from the notion of sin, which is contradictory to Meleticism.
You are taught in philosophy the meaning of self-control and that your thoughts are conducive to your actions. Therefore, any manifestation of evil in you is demonstrative of your lack of control, not any sin that you deem unrighteous. The exception to that rule would be a mind non compos mentis or the loss of sophrosyne, which is the soundness of the mind.
Accountability is the only way you can measure your virtuous acts. Repentance is not necessary, when you have learnt the consequence of your actions. If you have not, then it is because of your ego, not because of your fear and retribution of divine punishment.
This is called reflection. Reflecting on the severity of your actions permits you to distinguish their consequential effects. It is easy to seek forgiveness than it is to forgive. For that reason, you are imbued with wisdom. Wisdom alone will not be sufficient. It will require the utility of your consciousness.
Once you are aware that you have good and bad in your traits, then you can attempt to reason what they represent to you in the greater sense of their value. Remember that it is what you do with the good and bad in you that will ultimately display your character or your flaws.
To deny that you have bad characteristics or thoughts is to deny the fundamental essence of your human nature and soul. No one is born good or bad. It is either an inherent virtue or an acquired vice.
(The self vs the ego)
Within the unique contrast between the self and the ego is the question of how much do they affect your thoughts, emotions and reasoning? What is known in the philosophical sense is that each represents a version of your character. Each has a different trait and is indicative of who you are as an individual.
The self is exemplified by your virtues and the ego by your vices. One is considered favourable and the other unfavourable. You purify the self when you are virtuous, but you corrupt the ego with acts that are immoral. When I mean immoral, I am expressing a person's ethical behaviour, not any act of a religious connotation.
You generally commit acts of immorality, when you are consumed with unnatural desires that inflate the ego with your imprudence. There is nothing substantially good about the ego, and the self which identifies you should never falter to the temptations of the ego.
If you do, then it is a troubling sign of your weakness in character. You could choose to endure the hardships of the self, or simply be seduced by the hauteur of the ego. The disturbing pattern is that most people nurture the ego than the self. To some people it is easier to desire something than to relinquish it.
You should heed to the simplicity of life, for it reveals to you the good about the self and bad of the ego. To commit mistakes is human. However to not learn their lesson is to be foolish. Do not forsake your inner self for the pleasures of your outer self. Be conscious about where one leads you on the right path and the other leads you astray.
Your selfish ways will get you nowhere, except self-destruction. Appreciate your inner self and you will be compensated by wisdom. Reject your ego, for this will make you a better person.
(The ena rhei)
There is a continuous presence that people tend to neglect or forsake its relevance in our world and that is nature. People take for granted its existence, or they abuse its gift. When you are in harmony with nature, then you are in unity with the beauty of its numerous wonders.
The wonders that I describe are connected with a thing that is called natural flow or the ena rhei. It is the representation of nature and its presence. Everything in nature has a purpose, as it has a cause and effect. That cause and effect maybe minimal, but this does not imply that they do not transpire.
A river that flows its currents naturally, is a river whose substance which is water interacts with other things of nature. It has a cause and it has an effect. The trees that we grow and the air that you breathe has a cause and effect. This is what simplifies this natural flow, amongst other things of life.
When you understand that you too are part of the process that is nature, then you learn to appreciate the value of life and nature You can either continue to turn a blind eye to its importance, or you could choose to be more conscious of your actions.
It is your consciousness that allows you to be the guardian of the Earth than the participant of its destruction. The natural flow is indeed an incredible connection that you have with nature. It fills your mind with wisdom, your body with breath and your inner soul with purity.
It is not a wisdom that is bestowed. Nor is it a breath that is eternal or a purity that is endowed. Its discovery is intended to enlighten you with the realisation of its presence. If you do not use your mind, then nature's course will remain elusive to you.
(Vices and Virtues)
How often do people misunderstand the true meaning of vices and virtues? A vice is something that is commonly associated to an unworthy characteristic, whilst a virtue is associated to a worthy one. Each of them is either exhibited by your thoughts or emotions patently.
A vice will mostly manifest through emotions and a virtue through thoughts. This does not exclude the possibility of your thoughts being irrational. A person that is virtuous does not seek to please the body with just desires. That person is inspired by logic than compulsive behaviour.
The mind can be controlled, as can the body also. Equilibrium is the key to overcome your impulses, as it is the key to enhance your ethos. Meditation is the fountain of enlightenment, and philosophy is the ambrosia of your logic.
What is disturbing is that many people do not admit to their vices, and few even are aware that they have any virtues that make them modest in their character. You could easily dismiss these vices and say that they are entertainment, but what good to the soul is an entertainment that neglects its moral balance?
When I mean moral balance, I am discussing the preservation of the soul from being corrupted and disrupted by senseless vices. Vices are not unnatural to you, but neither are they productive for you.
It is your temperance that should guide you in your maturity and reflections. Learn to value your virtues than to disregard them. When a person falters to their vices, that person will find it difficult to compromise them for the simplicity of their virtues.
(State of mind)
Knowledge is the mirror of your wisdom, just as consciousness is the door to enlightenment. Your state of mind is significant and relevant to the decisions that you make or the actions that you take. A healthy and rational mind will allow a person to excel in his or her thoughts than a mind that is fragile and unhealthy.
We are beings that are fortunate to have the ability and capacity to know and to learn about the mechanism of the mind, when we are focused. Your intentions should be clear.
An individual that is enriched in ideas that are logical has a mind that will advance in its course of meditation. There are people who for one reason or the other spend little time on exploring their mental prowess or are unaware of the potentiality of the mind.
Countless people fall into the irresistible trap of their erratic idiosyncrasy that conduces them to negativity and mistakes. A mind that is not rational will lead to a path of self-destruction. People seem to gravitate to those things that make more sense to them than those things that are more productive to the mind.
You could appease the mind with just gratification, but that would be something temporary. You would lose interest and move on to the next thing. Your mind must have a purpose, in order for it to function logically. The greatest thing about the mind is its capability.
The state of the mind will dictate the course of your actions. Understanding how the mind operates allows you to better interact with its mechanism. Philosophy is the substance that will provide the mind needed answers.
(Altruism)
The most fundamental thing that exemplifies your humanity is your altruism. When you think of others before yourself. It is the thought that eradicates your selfishness and the time to forsake your ego. What is deserving of your character is the worth of its actions.
People who are honest with themselves and with their conscience, are people that realise the significance of being human. Acts of philanthropy are measured by altruism. You have the ability and power to enable yourself to be a better individual in life, if you just have the desire to demonstrate your benevolence.
You should not expect anything in return. The world that you share as a society should be reflective of your humanity, but it is often not the case.
It is facile to dismiss a beggar than to offer a morsel of bread. It is also facile to be more indifferent than to be caring. The greatest offence one can perpetuate unto another person is not the insult of words. It is the inaction of doing nothing.
You can ignore the poverty in this world or make the beggar feel, as if he or she is not inferior to you in status. You can too, make that person feel worthy. No one deserves to be shunned as an outcast. Nor should that person be seen, as merely a victim of his or her own circumstance.
Until you are in that situation of need, you shall never truly know a day of suffering. By acknowledging that you are a mortal on this Earth, you should accept that you are not the owner, but the guardian of its habitat. People often think only about building material things to progress in life. What they forsake is its preservation.
(Emancipation from burdens)
The constant incertitude and concerns cause you always anxiety. It is unnecessary anxiety that only disrupts your harmony and rationality. Emancipation from burdens is what you should seek to strive for and to procure its realisation.
By releasing your troubles, you find inner peace in yourself and at the same time, wisdom in your meditations. When you are insulted by someone, you should not reciprocate with an insult, but with your wisdom. This teaches you to avoid conflict and utilise more your practice of patience.
It is important that you accept that there is a consequence to your actions, just as there is a solution to your situations. The possibility of obtaining resolution will depend on the substance of your thoughts. Burdens are in themselves derivative of your attitude and reflect the external face of your inner chaos.
Your calmness and wisdom will lead you away from that undesirable chaos. In time, you learn the appreciation of fortitude and the challenges of your personal struggle. Difficulties are a genuine part of your lives. When you examine your problems from within, you are able through your reflections to find the morality that determines what is right from wrong.
The control of your emotions and thoughts permits you to understand why you are burdened in the first place. An imbalance of them will only continue the process of suffering.
Accepting your imperfections and your limitations will bring you the rationality of your thoughts and the calmness of your emotions. It is not about oppressing the mind and its manifestations. Instead, it is about knowing what is healthy from unhealthy.
(Focus in life)
A person that is conscious about the cosmos, nature and the surrounding world is a person that is conscious about the essence of existence. The focus in life is to be cognisant of your mortality as well as your plight for the betterment of your ethos. It is not about just existing that determines your life.
It is what you do with that life that will mark your path and fate. By paying attention to the moment or the present, you focus more on the gravity of your world. The lessons of life should serve you to comprehend its value and your potentiality.
To be focused in life does not mean to exclude the enjoyment of it or forget the reason why you are human. It is meant to accept the limitations of mortality and the possibilities of your virtuous deeds.
A life that is worthy is a life that is centred on the foundation of a belief. Philosophy is a foundation that gives you stability and knowledge. Goals and aspirations that you strive for are achieved through our perseverance and your conviction.
This does not conclude that these goals and aspirations should be based on material profit and gain. They should be based on the practice of your virtues. Meditation as well as enlightenment will permit you to focus and reach the realm of your consciousness.
Explore your thoughts and advance them into concrete ideas that will guide you to success. It is the culmination of your exploration that will be the greatest discovery of the human will. Focus not on pleasing your ego, but pleasing your inner self. In the end, your ego will abandon you, in your hour of need.
(Mechanical mind)
The world and society that people have created is the product of insistence in perfection. It is not the world that you should strive to emulate. Instead, it is a mechanical world and people are robots for its doing. A person with a mechanical mind is only occupied with the completion of a routine, whether it be a job or with personal matters.
That person tends to think mostly about his or her problems or enjoyment. When you are only mechanical in your mind, you forsake your creativity and your humanity. You lose the fundamental essence of your human nature. You forget that you are mortal.
You allow yourself to serve the opulence of greed and the enslavement of your will for the sake of the whims of society. This renders you mechanical and useless to your intellect as an individual. It leaves you without a genuine purpose to adhere to its practice.
In essence, you are much more than a mechanical being that operates within a system that condemns you for your failures and status in society. Ethics teach you that a society that is built on the principles of humanity is much more practical than a society that is built upon the backs of enslavement.
No one needs to be richer than another person, just as no one deserves to be poorer than another person. We could eradicate poverty with all the wealth amassed by people. If you ascribe to this mentality of proving that we are superior, then you do this at the selfish cost of the sake of others.
It is the people of power and status that are a detriment to your well-being. These demigods, who impose upon society the rules and restrictions of how you should live. It is better to be an innovator of ideas that will advance the cause of philosophy than to be a leech of society that will ruin the principles of its democracy.
(Pessimism vs optimism)
The state of your mind is dependent on the mood that you are in or the reflections you express. Pessimism is the opposite of optimism, and it is the contradiction to logic. Ergo, you should consider the benefits of being more optimistic than the monotony of being pessimistic.
Indeed, no one desires to be a pessimist, but that person must know that he or she can only control that of which is in his or her control. Why do you concern yourself with issues that you cannot change or the negativity that will only consume you from within? It is not a simple thing to achieve.
However, you can attempt to find meaning to the cause of your pessimism. What is in your capability is the key to confronting your pessimistic inclinations or thoughts. Everyone has a measure of control in life and a mind to contemplate the underlying reason for such despondency or uncertainty.
You can presume as an individual to know what is in your mind daily. The question is, are you certain enough to know the extent of your thoughts or is this pessimism the only thing you shall ever know?
To believe in yourself is the rational course of your optimism. It also is the mechanism to your equanimity. Do not waver to the temptations of despair so easily, when you have the means of fortitude to strengthen your resolve.
When you are depressed and negative in your thinking or emotions, you should allow the teachings of philosophy to convince yourself that there is a basis for optimism. It might be difficult to accomplish, but in the long journey, it will serve the purpose of giving you aspiration and hope. It is easy to give up than it is to continue in struggle of life.
(Cause and effect)
You learn by the application of consciousness that your decisions and actions have a cause and effect that manifest into transparent consequences. These causes can be either good or bad, as well as their effects. Your attitude or your contemplation will dictate the course of these decisions and actions.
Your senses give us the capability to differentiate the relevance of your experiences, and these experiences will enable you to ascertain an understanding to the reason a cause has an effect. Nature was not intended to provide you with all the answers, neither was your human nature.
Ergo, it is incumbent upon you to discover the purpose for your thinking. The practice of meditation is one that involves your focus and rumination. The objective of this practice is for you to know that you are accountable for your actions as you should be responsible for your decisions.
Causes of things can appear in a manner that is particular or accidental in the nature of things. They are to be understood, as manifestations of the mind or body. The self of which is the essence that defines you is what ultimately will be the most affected. Your intuition serves to reassure you in a particular form, your instinct in an accidental form, and your thought in a universal form.
All of these forms are the mechanisms that you react to. Once that is contemplated, then you can begin the process of making better decisions that will benefit you and prevent your irrationality.
In the end, not every cause needs to have an unproductive or important effect, but it should be rational. Life does not reveal to you all of its mysteries. It is for you to be conscious about the manner in which you perceive things from what they really are.
(Bad habits)
From your childhood unto your adulthood, you acquire good habits and bad habits. They tend to be reflected by your mores, which are your social norms or customs established. These habits define your ethos and the manner in which others perceive you to be in your comportment. They are either productive in their result or unproductive.
A habit is merely a behaviour that has become automatic or repetitive in its action. It can be transparent in its essence and function, or it can be descriptive in its intention. They can influence your virtues as they can influence your vices. Good habits inspire you to obtain goals or a course of fate, whilst bad habits are more of a hindrance to your progress and prevent you from focusing on your goals or fate.
A person strives not to be defeated by their bad habits, but to understand their negative effects and learn to adapt to them and appreciate more the good habits. Only then, can you attempt to be consistent in your thinking and ascertain the cause of your habits.
Habits that are actuated are not mostly conceived from consciousness. They are similar to instinct with the exception that they can be detrimental to your nous and logic. It is natural that as a human being you are inclined to be habitual in your actions. Your comportment is conducive to your habits, as your habits are conducive to your actions.
A habit is more intuited in the subconscious realm than the conscious one. It means that good or bad habits are a part of your human nature. What you should concern yourself more in life are the bad habits that disrupt your equanimity. These habits are not healthy to the mind, body and soul. They can also govern your mind. Thus, you should not be constrained to the ineffectiveness of their comportment.
Philosophy teaches you to be more receptive to the idea that you can control your habits, just as you can be controlled by them. Learn to find meaning to your good habits and learn to erase your bad habits.
(The moral compass)
Ethics teach you that there must be a system of conduct that exemplifies your virtues and inspires your moral excellence. In philosophy it is called the moral compass. When I refer to morality, I am not addressing a religious attachment or definition.
It is solely the reflection of your conscience and the understanding of the distinction of what is right or wrong in the philosophical sense. This moral compass is either intuitive or knowledge that you have gained from your experiences in life.
Morality in itself is not inherently something that you are born with or do you possess that capability from birth. You learn what the meaning of that something is with your understanding of the premise and its intrinsic essence. To prove the justification of any form of established morality would require the prerequisite of ethics and logic to be introduced.
Your virtues and character are two elements in philosophy that combined would be conducive to the moral expression of your humanity and knowledge. Thus, there is a valuable reason for the need to be moral in your actions and thoughts.
Morality in principle is a concept in which you apply with a great measure of truth. A certain truth that is demonstrative of how you perceive things in the world. Morality is not about submitting yourself to a criterion that you cannot sustain. Nor should it be conditioned to what others maintain as moral. The standard that we create is one that is solid and applicable.
If you do not have morality, then your ethics would be reduced to a pointless argument and teach you nothing of meaningful substance. Morality should not be defined, as only the rules of right conduct or your mental disposition. It truly encompasses other aspects of your life and thinking.
(The tyranny of the demigods)
For centuries men in power have either corrupted societies, or have been corrupted by absolute power and insatiable greed. The tyranny of the demigods is an explicit reference to the manifestation of this form of tyrannical reality and behaviour. It is the action or actions of one man, who sees himself as superior and supreme.
It is common in human nature to believe and act as if others were inferior. In reality, the demigod is a person that thinks as a god and embodies that image through his conduct. Tyranny has no legitimacy for its justification. It should be completely eradicated in society. It has no moral principle to be adhere to its practice.
A demigod could be any man that deems himself righteous or be someone that has power of influence over someone else. The demigod is unworthy of blind reverence or adoration, for he is incapable of reasoning.
You should treat the demigods as they deserve to be treated, with the same indifference they exhibit to others, but with intelligence and not the same ignorance that they convey. There is no need to bow down to them like royal subjects. Nor is there a reason to despise them for their vanity. The worst punishment that they could receive is our rejection.
What they tend to lack in is wisdom and virtues. The demigods live in a world of their own, and their palaces and thrones are not merely physical, but more of a mental concept. What is more concerning is not their attitude. It is the perception that there are entitled something, as if by inherent will. They govern by way of power.
However, they represent an illusion that blinds their reasoning. This is why the tyranny of the demigods is understood, as being incoherent and undisciplined in its quintessential nature.
(Natural desires)
Desires in themselves are the expressions of your body and mind. They manifest in your thoughts and emotions. Some at times in an independent or dependent manner. They are produced for either pleasure or gratification. There are desires that are natural as they are unnatural, healthy as well as unhealthy, and finally moral or immoral.
Desires are not meant to be suppressed, when they are relevant to your virtues and serve the purpose to find equilibrium, within your thoughts and passions. Philosophy teaches you that as human beings we are susceptible to your desires and succumb to them willingly.
What should be said is that natural desires like hunger, thirst, sleep amongst others are conducive to the basic necessities you require, but others that are unnatural like fame, indifference, wealth amongst other things are unnecessary to your ethos.
What you discover with your desires is that you experience with your sentience and cognisance the sensations of what desires embody and what you experiment. These types of desires that you express are designed to be understood, and they allow you to determine the validity of their magnitude and effects they have on you.
Every experience you share about desires should not be reduced to a mere moment or pleasure. They should be accepted as part of a natural process that develops with the realisation of what are desires are capable of achieving. Your nous gives you the ability to rationalise desires.
A person does not need to be neither excessive nor complacent with pleasures or what is sought. It is better that you learn how to deal with the nature of your desires. To accomplish that, you should discover more about your human nature.
(Pleasures)
Pleasures are meant to be understood, for what they represent and for what they mean to you. Naturally as with desires, they are necessary pleasures and unnecessary ones. Things such as delight, satisfaction, gratification, happiness amongst others are necessary pleasures that make you feel good and reward you, but there are those pleasures that are considered unhealthy as well as unnecessary.
They are overindulgence, debauchery, vices, obsession, uncontrollable lust and others that can do more harm than good to your body, mind and soul. You must remember that pleasures are not necessarily intended to be carnal.
They are meant to be shared and experienced with the mind and soul too. You must recognise your thoughts and passions of the body. You are by nature, a creator and receiver of pleasure. To omit that relevancy, is to deny your human nature.
There is no need to suppress your pleasures entirely. It is about being moderate with them and learning to cope with their function. Pleasures and desires have a purpose and reason to exist. Life is full of things that give you pleasure.
There are those pleasures that are strictly material in their essence or immaterial in their concept. It is often the simplistic pleasures that are seen as mundane that have more of a value than those that you covet. Pleasures were meant to be expressed and at the same time understood. They are often used as a sole mechanism against pain or despair.
Essentially, against those things that cause you the opposite of pleasure. Emotions are a central part of your pleasures. They interact with each other on different levels and intervals. In the end, you cannot live without pleasures. Nor can you forsake them, so that you can be more righteous. You can be virtuous and feel pleasurable at the same time.
(The Soul)
That which identifies you, is the self, and that which is your essence is the ousia. Then there is the soul, which governs your consciousness. As a Meletic, I am taught to understand that the quintessence that mostly makes me more humane is our soul. Without it, the harmony with the mind and body would be disrupted.
Your virtues would be reduced to the self without validity, and your deeds would be predicated on your thoughts alone than actions. What would your worth be, if you did not possess a soul to reflect your character? Your consciousness would be vacuous and incomplete.
What would a body be that was not ensouled? The soul like the body and mind must be nurtured daily. If neglected it will get weaker like the others. Its strength is conditioned to its state of being. It is a fundamental state that exists within you. It evolves with the self and ousia together.
The essence of the soul is invisible. It is not eternal. It is like a breath that we breathe daily. Once you die, the soul ceases to exist. As in the case with the body, whose atoms return to the universe. The soul returns to the breath of nature. What should be understood about the soul is that it is the guide to your consciousness.
It reflects the powerful link to the body and mind. Together, they serve, as the active instruments of your human nature. The soul is much more than an abstract thing or notion conceived. It is much deeper than the emotions you feel or the ideas you create.
Its genuine purpose demonstrates a relevance that permits you to value its ultimate function. The soul is not a divine spirit from within. It has a true essence that is pure, but it must be nurtured. It cannot sustain itself. A person without a soul, is a person that is reduced to the material nature of existence. An existence that is then soulless.
(Permanence vs Impermanence)
In life as in your human nature there are things that are conditional or unconditional. These things could be understood, as permanence or impermanence. They are the things that are a state of being. Examples of these things are life which is conditional and death which is unconditional.
There is the present which is conditional and the past which is unconditional. It is significant that you know how to accept these things that affects you, so that you can situate yourself and mind in the world that you reside and accept their presence. This teaches you to be more mindful of your human nature.
You could live a productive life of virtues, as you could live a better life with consciousness, if you only took the needed time to meditate where you are at in life, and where do you want to be?
When you are in a condition that does not evolve, then you will never reach the point of change. Change when good is necessary to human nature. As a human being, you have so much potential, but you are blinded by the world of materialism and your craving for more.
You should concentrate on the things that you change than those you cannot. Your thoughts and emotions are conditional. Your irrationality and instability are not, when describing their effects. Remember that I am referring to a state of being and mind.
The permanence of death coexists with the impermanence of life. The mind must be governed by a system of logic and a sphere of consciousness. Only then, can you procure to obtain a sufficient understanding of your own existence. No one is born with knowledge. You acquire it through the process of your learning.
(Reality)
Reality is the substance of perception, because it has to do with the way the world is perceived. The philosophical belief in reality is centred on the quintessence of the physis or nature as was regarded to be. What you perceive of reality is that it is independent and persistent in its substance and structure.
It is much like logic in the analogous sense that it is perceived to be sound and reliable. This concept does not exclude the notion in the scientific sense that reality could be ultimately, a dimension or matrix that you have not fully deciphered in your limited mind.
What you can observe and study of the dynamic unity of reality is the fact that it corresponds to the things that you observe or perceive. The abstract opposite of reality would be the imagination and virtual things which are outside of the limitations of the definition of reality.
Whilst time is an abstract notion, reality manifests itself as being actual. There is a comparative thing that you can relate to reality and that is existence. Existence is the verification of reality, and it can convey the perimeters of reality.
Naturally, you cannot exist outside of the boundaries of reality. Nor can you simply dismiss reality, as being a product of your inventive imagination. It is truly difficult to surmise the nature of reality without realising the veracity of nature. What ultimately binds nature with reality is existence. You know that reality is existential, and you should conclude that it manifests itself to you in the most transparent manner that you can observe of it.
It is impossible to know whether there is a unified oneness to reality, or does the truth about reality lie in its forms of variety and change? If so, then this would imply that reality is then congruent.
(Fate)
When addressing fate the common question that derives is what does fate mean and is it predetermined? Here lies the discussion between free will and determinism. It is unclear whether or not fate is an actual thing that is out of your control or is within your control. Fate is not something that is invariable and incapable of being altered.
At what degrees of contingencies do you assume that fate is impossible to be undetermined? The question that arises is how compatible is the concept of fate to the volition of your actions or external or internal influences? What should be relevant is the fact that you do have a measure of control of your fate.
If you accept that premise, then you should believe that we can indeed control the course of your fate. It is feasible to think that as a free thinker that your will to change this course is something that allows you to be a participant and not a mere observer.
The things that you perceive in the reality of nature are ultimately reflective of your human nature. Thus, what is important is how you respond to events of life that transpire. Fate does not need to reduce you to a singular moment or one that is nonexistential, but to recognise the importance of that moment.
Although you can explore the notion of the future, this does not imply that the future dictates your present time. When discussing the reality of fate, then we are questioning its essence. How does it operate and what elements does it consist of? You should concede to the idea that you have free will. Every rational person has the power from within to change his or her life. It is the mentality that determines the belief of an invariable or variable fate.
Philosophy can only observe and interpret the consequences of your decisions and actions. It does not have a fate of its own. Nor can it solve the complexity of the destination of fate, without thinking.
(Humanism)
The understanding of humanism is seen in the nature of humanity. You are not an immortal of Elysium or a slave to a god of divinity. You are a mortal that is limited in your physicality, but not limited in your capacity to learn as a moral agent. The cosmos is a reflection of your material essence.
Your connection with it is the highest form of consciousness obtained. You do not need to worship it, as you do not need to worship any god to know of cosmic presence. Humanism is an ethical part of your sacrifice and determination to seek respect and gratitude amidst other human beings.
To remember always that you are of the same seed of humanity. There is so much in this world that you could better, if you only agreed to assist in that endeavour. You could envision a better society with less violence, corruption and wars.
It would be a place much more humane than inhumane. You should heed the words that emphasise the relevance of brotherhood or sisterhood. As a force of humanity, you could rid yourself of the burdens and unnecessary things that cause your separation from others.
Division will only lead you to animosity, and zealotry will lead you to the point of no return. No one should dictate the life of another person. Nor should that person be ostracised by society. People have the power to create a better world. For centuries humanity has evolved with its good and bad, moral and immoral, virtuous and less virtuous traits.
People have either learnt to be a voice to reason and justice or remain silent as an accomplice. The philosophy of Meleticism is one that is meant to be practised and understood. These words expressed are the reflection of my contemplations.
