DapperTale (Part One)

DapperTale (Part One)

By TheValhallan

“Well hello there!” A small flower with a mustache and a top hat perked up in front of me and casually started a conversation. It had six yellow petals around its head, and a nice green stem.

“It seems your new here, aren’t you?” The flower inspected my clothing. My clothes were a little torn around the edges, but still functional.

“Well, my name is Flowey, and it’s my job to show you how things work around here!” Flowey straightened its stem and its petals stretched out from it.

Something emanated from my body, and a small, heart shaped object slowly came out. It was red and had a slight glow to it.

“This is your soul, often referred to as your honor. Your honor may be small now, but it can accumulate over time.” Flowey got a weird look in its eyes.

“Your honor can grow by catching small tokens, here, catch them!” 5 small tokens spawned around Flowey and drifted towards me. I gave them a chance and touched one. I felt my soul crack.

“You really are stupid; do you think I would give up this chance?!?!” Flowey started laughing manically as tentacles came out and grabbed my soul.

“With your honor, my power would grow, and I WOULD BE UNSTOPABL-!” Flowey stopped suddenly.

“Put the soul down NOW!” A new voice came out of the darkness as a gun was put to Flowey’s head.

Flowey stood still for a moment before he disappeared into the ground.

“That’s better, are you okay child?” The goat woman stepped forward and offered her hand to help. I took the hand and she started walking, I followed.

The area was filled with old machinery and weapons. The machinery seemed to be okay and useful, but the weapons were all broken.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“You are in the underground, a place where monsters live. I am here to teach you how to defend yourself, if any harm comes to you in the Steam Ruins.” The goat woman led me to an opening in a large structure. The structure was made of steampunk era architecture and run down with plants.

“Who are you?” I asked.

“Excuse my rudeness, my child.” She stopped and turned around. “I am known as Toriel, defender of the Steam Ruins. I will be your guardian for as long as you stay.” She continued her walk.

“Here we are my child.” Toriel turned to me once more. “This is the training room, I will teach you how to avoid a duel without anyone getting hurt.” She motioned me towards a training dummy.

“In a duel, you should try to talk to your opponent, and convince it to stop fighting, here, try it.”

My soul came out as I stood in front of a stuffed training dummy.

“Ummm, you have nice eyes?” I felt stupid talking to a dummy, but it looked pleased.

“Great job my child!” Toriel exclaimed. “Come now, we don’t have much more to go.” She grabbed my hand once more and led me down a hallway.

“I have much to prepare for your arrival, so I will go ahead, feel free to explore the ruins, it should be safe here.” she rushed off down a series of hallways. I decided to check around. Most hallways were dead ends, with a few machines lying out and about. But one end had a patch of upturned soil. Underneath was a small gun, just lying there. I took it, pocketed it, and rushed off towards Toriel.

“Ah my child! I’m glad you found your way.” Toriel was sitting on a rocking chair on the porch of a house.

“Let me show you your new home!” she walked inside and gave me a tour. It was a quite small house, my room, hers, a kitchen, living room, and a chained off door.

“You should be quite happy here, happy and protected.” Toriel moved away, and towards the living room, but I stopped her.

“When can I leave?” I asked before she got into the next room.

“Ummm.” She started, “There is something I need to take care of.” She rushed away and towards the chained room, unlocking it and running in.

“Hey! Wait!” I ran after her.

I finally caught up to her, and she was standing in front of a large door, gun drawn.

“I won’t let you leave, it’s too dangerous out there.” She said with a serious look on her face.

“But I don’t want to be here forever.” I pleaded.

“Fine.” She started, “Then show me you are strong enough for the underground.” She cocked her pistol, and my soul came out.

“I don’t want to fight you.” I begged.

“Then you don’t get to leave.” She shot at me, but I was able to dodge it.

“Please-“I was cut off

“I won’t let you get killed by them!” She yelled and shot at me more, one bullet grazed me.

“I DON’T WANT TO HURT YOU!” I screamed.

“SHOW ME YOU ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO LEAVE!” she yelled back.

She shot more at me, on bullet hit me arm and I stumbled back.

“I’m sorry.” I raised up my gun and shot.

She stood there in shock as the bullet hit her chest. A small gasp escaped her lips as she crumpled to the ground. I rushed next to her side.

“You are strong enough.” She muttered. A smile came to her lips as she turned to dust. I could feel myself get stronger, my honor got bigger. Tears streamed down my face as I collapsed. I didn’t want to hurt her. I never meant to hurt anyone. I clumsily stood up and pushed open the door to the underground.

Author Notes: Again, feel free to be as critical as you want. Also, tell me if my stories are a little too this or that. Also, does anyone else know what Undertale Au's are? Edit #1, I forgot to edit, and second draft and stuffs (fixed)
