Do You Want to Have a Catch
By Anthony E
I worked long hours-I wanted to provide
Bring better things than I had
Private Schools-an inground pool
To do much better than my Dad
I wanted all inclusive vacations-celebrate every occasion
To eat prime rib and drink Italian wine
To have every opportunity-and leave a big gratuity
To make more money than that father of mine
But something was a miss---I started to miss
I worked late and felt the stress
Being away I missed school plays
My kids saw me less and less
But I bought them Christmas presents-expensive and rich
They played until December 26th
And then I was gone like decorations on the lawn
This relationship was hard to fix
At work and feeling kindve bad-I called my dad
How did you raise such a close loving family
He told me to release the stress i should work less
And make my wife and kids a priority.
So I thought of the regrets while washing my corvette
My wife and my parents were at the kids soccer match
But then my banker called and I then stalled
My son would never ask- "Dad do you want to have a catch?"
