Donation-Part Thirteen

By Black Sheep

(Calix Steven's pov.)

I lay awake in the darkness of his room. Sawyer lies sleeping beside me; head resing against my arm, body curled into mine, and legs tangled with mine. His arm moves wrapping around my waist,"what is wrong?" It sounds wrong coming out of his mouth, I should be asking him that not him asking me. "I cannot sleep." It is only a half-lie but I hate it all the same. "Did I wake you?" He leans up on one elbow, ignoring the question. "Tell me."

I look up to the ceiling,"I am going home tomorrow before the funeral." His body weight leaves the bed and moments later the room floods with light, I flinch at the sudden change. He sits down beside me, not meeting my eyes.

"You aren't going to come?" I stare at him, taken aback. "I-I. D-don't you want to go alone?" My voice quivers. His hands tremble as they fing mine and he shakes his head. I nod,"then I will go with you." He smiles and kisses my cheeck. "I hated them but I loved them. They were my parents and they just abandoned me when I needed them the most. They just kicked me out without a care in the world."

His voice is cold, holding no emotion. Tears slowly fall down his cheecks, I pull him close wrapping him tight in my arms. "It is okay, I am right here." I whisper over and over again as he silently cries. For his parents death or the approval he never got I don't know, maybe a little of both.

He will never get there approval and they will never see there son happy. The last words they said repeating in my head; 'the best decision I ever made was to leave when you said go or play pretend.' No I love yous or I am sorrys just the broken words of a broken family.
