Don't Blame Me
“You can’t blame me!†I protested, aggrieved.
“Of course I can.†she retorted. “It’s your own silly fault.â€
“That’s hardly fair, is it? I mean, it wasn’t all my own doing.†I said earnestly, hoping she would understand.
“Oh, so you’re saying I’m to blame?†Her voice rose several octaves as she grew annoyed.
“To an extent that’s exactly what I’m saying.†I told her bluntly.
“Explain yourself!†she demanded
“It’s all very simple.†I began. “If you were not the wonderful person you are, I wouldn’t have fallen in love with you.†I told her, again.
