no saving what we had

By 𝕝𝕪𝕟𝕘𝕓𝕒𝕜𝕣𝟠𝟚

I never should have sent you that silly letter

Yes, I miss you, but I could have done so much better

Driving back from the post office

In my golfcart this morning

Something struck me from above

Without too much warning

'Twas a badminton racket

That had hit my head

But when I saw where it came from,

I wished I was dead.

I looked across the street

And there you were

And out of all the people on earth,

You were standing with her.

You had your arm around her,

The two of you facing away from me

But if you had only turned around

Then you could have seen

The expression on my face.

I felt like I'd been trampled by a stampede

And if fate would allow it,

I'd get on my knees and plead

For you to take me back

But there's no saving what we had.
