I walks into the small coffee shop down the street from where my tiny two bedroom apartment stands. I prop my 1-year-old daughter, Asa, on my hip while I orders the cheapest coffee I can afford. Bills were up, and I needed to be able to support Asa and my mom, who was in a mental institution since my father left.
"Order for.. Siren?" The lady says, and I grab my coffee. I don't bother correction, because it's pointless. I grab the diaper bag and go to my best friends black Chevy and buckles Asa up in her car seat.
I put the diaper bag on the floorboard and then go to the driver side and get into the driver seat. I pull into reverse and drives home. I hop out of the truck and gets Asa and the diaper bag. When I see the mailbox packed with mail, I sigh. More bills. I walks over there and pull all the mail out and go inside, then set the diaper bag on the floor and let Asa crawl around on the kitchen floor, so I have the opportunity to go through the mail. Bills, bills, bills. I look at one and my eyes widen. I tear the top open and pull a check out. "Holy hell," I mutter, and look at the check for 20,000 dollars. No return address. No name. "Dammit, this is calls for a call to Lexi." I grab my phone and call Lexi, who picks up almost immediately. I tell her to come over and she says she'd be over in ten. I pull out some apple sauce from the fridge and pick Asa in the highchair so I can give her a snack.
I'm in the middle of giving her some when the door opens up to hooting and hollering. My roomate walks in and instantly quiets and shushes the guys. Dimas knows not to be too loud around Asa because her ears are sensitive and she will also start screaming happily and I won't be able to get her to stop. "Hey, guys. Lexi is coming over so take the guy stuff to a different room when she gets here." I take a breath and notice they smell like sweat, grass, and burnt rubber. "Also, all of you guys take a shower." I set the apple sauce down, Asa seemenly admiring one of Dimas' tattoo's, and pull Asa out of the highchair. Dimas pulls me into a hug, friendly as usual, and I fake gag. "Ewwwww, now I'm gonna be smelling like an auto shop," I complain and he laughs and lets me go, much to my appreciation. I go to the kitchen and start filling up the sink with hot water and soap, then go to where the mail was spread out.
"Yo, what's this?" Terence, Dimas best friend, asks and hold up the check.
"A check, dipshit," I reply and he rolls his eyes.
"I mean," he says and pushes it into my face. "why does it have a 20,200 dollar amount on it?"
"I dunno, it arrived in the mail. Can you put it in my room? Me and Lexi gotta talk about it, anyway. Any dishes in your room, D?"
"Nah, I've been going over to Terences place to eat. His mom makes awesome food." He picks up Asa and she giggles. I start cleaning the dishes and hear someone knock at the door.
"Come on it, Lex!" I shout, and she walks in and breaths a sigh of relief. I look over at her and she has a bruise on her left arm. Derek. I rinse off the plate I was cleaning and set it on the drying rack, then go over and pull her to the couch. "Lexi--" I start but she cuts me off.
"He hit me," She whispers, and suddenly I forget about the check. "H-he was mad about me just leaving to come over here without him knowing, and he got pissed off and grabbed my arm." I pull her into my arms and hug her tightly.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. If it makes you feel happier, I got a check." I say, and grab the check. The boys are in Dimas' room, most likely playing Call of Duty, with Asa attempting to crawl on his bed.
"Cash it," she says immediately. "I've read a book like this. Ended up with a hot guy with a big dick and a ton of money."
"What if the dude is a cripple, though?" We both shudder.
"If you don't, I will," she smirks, and I know she means it.
"Fine! I'll cash it." I put it on my nightstand after a while, Lexi leaves, and I go to Dimas' room. "I'm here for Asa." I say and then see she is in Dimas' lap, holding onto the controlar. I go over and sit down beside them, grabbing Asa and placing her in my lap. Dimas uses one hand to play the game, but pulls the other around my waist, so that I'm closer to him. I look up and see he's smirking, and a blush covers my cheeks and over my nose, a little like my slightly noticeable, but kinda cute freckles. I look down and Asa boops her nose against mine, and I smile. Her head plops against my chest, and I know she's getting tired.
About an hour later, the guys leave and I put Asa in her crib. I change quickly, shorts and a long hoodie with a tank top under, and then go to the kitchen to make dinner for me and Damis, who surprisingly stayed, so I whip up some Mac 'N Cheese, with two cups of Dr. Pepper. "Here, D." I hand him a bowl and fork and then the cup of soda. I grab the remote and put on some good 'ol Vampire Diaries and eat my food slowly. Oh shit, Damon look like he 'boutta RKO you, Stefen, I say to myself. I set the bowl down on the table and take a sip of the soda, then set that down with it. I look out of the corner of my eye and see Dimas following my every move, and that causes a blush to cross my face lightly.
Dimas, unlike his friends, is mostly quiet and not yelling. His messed-up-to-a-point-it's-cute dirty blonde hair is long enough to put a small braid in, he has the perfect amount of muscle, in the middle of too skinny and too buff, his hazel eyes with flecks of green if you look long enough. All that makes the girls drop to their knees for him, but he never gives them a second glance.
I lean my head on his shoulder, and he pulls me closer to him. I look up at him, and he looks at me, then kisses me.
