Fire Dance

Fire Dance

Lights dancing in the distance
on and off
perfect synchronicity
the view was misty obscuring the surface water
as I touched your hand
you lay with your cheek on my stomach still
each flash left an afterglow,
an entire lifetime
on and off again in silence we watched
each flicker exactly like the other,
but entirely different
we died a thousand times that night
we lived a thousand dreams
our childrens children saw us within each burst
through their own prism in a dream,
into the future,
and into the past
we wept a laugh
we cried a smile
on and off again they flickered
the grass tickled,
knowing the hours passing
the moon slept well,
not a single flicker was left,
the wind took em
I watched you walking away,
you will find me right here again
one day
peering into your eyes
to see that last dance.
