Goodbye

By 𓆩קhσꫀɳi᥊𓆪

My grandfather doesn't say goodbye

He says it is for when you die

And we aren't dead yet.

He won't use it when we leave

So we use 'see you laters' or 'good nights'.

I understand why he doesn't use it.

There are so many emotions tied into the word,

So many thoughts that are folded into it,

Countless feelings spill out when you utter it

You only use it when you run out of other words

You know when the time comes to use it

You know when it is the only thing left to say

You only say goodbye when you mean it

You only say it to someone you care about

Someone who cares about you

Someone who knows you better than most

Someone who knows all your secrets

Someone who makes you feel something

Something that can only be described as love.

Someone who will soon be gone.
