Healing (Iασις)
-From the Meletic Scrolls.
To speak about healing is to delve into the distinctive essence that composes the body, mind and soul. It is an exploration of the latent power we possess within our will and fortitude, a recognition of the inherent capacity to restore ourselves when in pain or imbalance. Healing from a Meletic perspective is not merely a physical process, for it is a complete one that involves every facet of our being, from the material to the metaphysical. It is through the fusion of these elements that we realise the deeper nature of healing, not as an isolated event, but as an ongoing and profound connection with our true essence or ousia.
According to the teachings of Meleticism, each human being is composed of a unique blend of elements, which are the atoms in our bodies, the breath of our soul and the ousia. These elements, whilst existential in their manifestation are deeply influenced by (To Ένa) the One. To Ena in this context is the overarching force that gives rise to all being, permeating every atom of the universe. It is through this metaphysical connection that we understand our own capacity to heal. The ousia that resides within us is the true essence of our being, which is the source from which all healing flows. When we engage with this essence, we align ourselves with the cosmic flow, allowing the healing energy of To Ena to restore balance and vitality to our bodies, minds and souls.
The inevitability of death serves, as a stark reminder of our mortality. It is the one certainty that all human beings must deal with its occurrence. Within the reality of our eventual demise lies the profound understanding of what it means to truly live. In the face of this inevitability, we are called to acknowledge our vulnerability and fragility as human beings, as well as our incredible potentiality for resilience. The human experience is not solely defined by our physical limitations, but by our capacity to transcend these limitations through the union of the body, mind and soul. In acknowledging the inevitability of death, we are also prompted to recognise the power of life with its ability to heal, to grow and to transform.
Philosophy is the lens through which we gain comprehension of the world, and in many ways, it is philosophy that offers us the means of healing. By contemplating the nature of life and existence, we realise not just the reality of the world around us, but the deeper reality also of our own being. Life is ultimately the contemplation of this deeper truth, a truth that transcends the fleeting nature of time and the unavoidability of death. As time passes, we unfortunately experience physical and emotional pain, which can cause immense suffering. Whether the pain is a result of physical injury or emotional turmoil, it is a reflection of the impermanence of the human condition. It is through this suffering that we are also given the opportunity to heal, to transcend and to become more whole in our nature.
The suffering we experience is often not a singular event, but an ongoing challenge that tests our limits. At times, this pain can feel unbearable, as if it will never end. In these moments, our bodies and minds may feel at their weakest, unable to cope with the weight of the world. It is in these particular moments of vulnerability that the practice of self-awareness becomes essential. Self-awareness is the key to understanding the root causes of our suffering, to acknowledge our limitations and to ultimately find the strength to overcome them. The Meletic philosophy teaches us that the ousia, which is the true essence within us is inherently connected to the healing forces of the universe. It is this essence that enables us to recover, to regenerate and to restore balance within ourselves.
Understanding the way in which the body, mind and soul operate is significant for effective healing. Healing does not come from external sources alone; it is not something that can be imposed upon us from outside forces. Rather, it is a natural process that unfolds within us, through our own volition and forbearance. The mind, when cultivated with the wisdom of Meleticism, becomes the intrinsic guide that directs the flow of healing throughout the body and soul. By understanding the interconnection of all aspects of our being, we can begin to consciously direct our healing energies and allow them to flow freely. Once we achieve this state of awareness and alignment, we are able to open ourselves fully to the healing process.
Healing is not a foreign or unnatural occurrence; it is a process that occurs naturally within us. Just as our bodies heal from wounds and injuries, our minds and souls heal from emotional and mental scars. In this sense, there is no distinction between physical and emotional healing. Both are processes of restoration, which is returning to a state of wholeness. Whilst there are some forms of suffering that may appear incurable, it is important to realise that these limitations do not define us. Even in the face of suffering that cannot be fully healed, we can still strive for inner peace and balance. Through mindfulness and acceptance, we can find solace in the understanding that healing is a continuous journey, not a singular destination.
When we acknowledge that life is but a transient period of time, we are able to approach it with greater acceptance and understanding. Life is not an unending march towards some distant future, but a cyclical process that includes both birth and death, joy and sorrow, healing and suffering. The acceptance of this natural rhythm is essential to finding peace within ourselves. We must come to terms with the fact that death is an inevitable part of existence, and in doing so, we are able to live more fully in the present moment. Healing in this sense, is not about escaping death or suffering, but more about embracing the totality of life, in all its numerous complexities and contradictions.
The concept of emotional healing is closely tied to physical healing, as both involve the process of restoring balance and harmony within ourselves. Emotional wounds like physical ones, leave scars that must be tended to in order to promote healing. Music, art and nature are all instruments that can aid in this process. Just as the sound of a lyre can soothe the soul, the gentle rhythms of nature can help purify and restore the spirit. These external influences, when embraced with mindfulness, become channels through which healing energy can flow.
In our modern world, it is often easier to conceive of healing as a miraculous event rather than a natural, ongoing process. We look for salvation in the form of divine intervention, seeking external solutions to our internal struggles. The true power of healing lies not in miracles, but in the natural operations of the mind, body and soul. As human beings, we are endowed with the capacity to heal through the unification of these three aspects of our being. When we align ourselves with the Enas, we activate the healing process within us. The Enas as the One, represents the ultimate source of healing, the force that connects all things and guides the flow of life. Through our connection with the Enas, we heal not only ourselves, but the world around us also, as our actions and intentions ripple out into the cosmos.
Healing, therefore, is not a separate or isolated event. Instead, it is a continuous process of becoming one with To Ena. It is the recognition that the power to heal resides within us, waiting to be awakened through conscious engagement with our own essence. Just as the cells in our bodies gradually heal a wound, or serotonin helps heal emotional trauma, To Ena offers us the means to restore balance to our daily lives. By acknowledging this inherent power and tapping into the energy of the universe, we can heal the body, mind and soul, becoming one with the ultimate force that governs all existence.
Healing is the process of becoming whole, not just physically, but metaphysically. It is the realisation that the true essence of healing lies not in external sources; it lies in our own connection to To Ena. By embracing this connection, we unlock the full potentiality of our being, and through this process, we achieve not only healing, but enlightenment also. Thus, healing is a journey of self-discovery, a path that leads us to the deepest understanding of ourselves and the cosmos.
