Him and Autumn

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

I gaze upon the leaves

Copper crisp and scattered

To the ground beneath me

And I remember my love

For him and autumn.

As the cold creeps in

Through the cracks

And the nights grow

Ever longer, I

Find a strange happiness

But in the warmth and

Long nights of the spring,

I find a certain unseen sadness

Lingering in the dewy air.
