Ignorance

By LeCat127

Walls are built around us.

We hate this dismal trap,

Yet soon we pick up the stones

And place them down ourselves.

Bricks of ignorance seem slight

Compared with the burden of knowledge.

Rock traps seem less dark

When outside the sun blinds.

We become content unknowing,

Dark appears bright enough;

And somehow we forget

Wings of enlightenment allow flight.

Author Notes: I wrote this poem for a poetry anthology assignment in ninth grade. It's not amazing, but I think it's decent so here you go.
