Justin Case - The Wanda Way
By HSuys
“Whenever Wanda tells a story, her right hand keeps fiddling with the left, a few inches in front of her. I keep fearing she is going to break a finger.
But today she dished up a story about the smell of a wet dog in her boss's carpool car with giggles in the backseat and… this time her fingers remained quiet and calm. Then I knew she was lying and I don't know why. Can you help me?"
My name is Justin Case and I'm a private investigator.
The monologue above is a good example of an intake interview with a suspicious husband, rightly so or not. Usually there is nothing wrong and a sudden change in behavior can be perfectly explained. In Wanda's case, a new job brought about these minor changes in her ways. Nothing to worry about really.
Or at least that’s what I told her husband.
Author Notes: Hervé SUYS (°1968 - Ronse, Belgium) started writing short stories whilst recovering from a sports injury and hasn't stopped yet. He usually writes them hatless and barefooted.
