Something happened to her.
She didn't know what she didn't want to be on the street.
She didn't want to see the shimmering words.
The thoughts that floated above people's heads.
She didn't know why they were so awful.
When people opened their mouths all that came out was black.
Black smoke that were lies.
Their voices were silent.
Everybody races through life holding the same lie.
It's fine. I'm fine. They're fine.
People were walking past.
People walked through her as the sidewalk got crowded.
Someone walked through her.
Someone walked through her.
Someone walked through her.
The words were heavy and black.
Black like death. Like misery. Like loneliness.
They weighed her down.
Most people had brilliant colors.
Not her.
Because she had made a dreadful mistake.
She trusted. She will never make that mistake again.
The words still haunt her but it is not as though she could leave them behind; they follow her around like lost puppies while everyone gapes.
