Life Goes On

By storiesbytaurus

She sits alone, wondering when someone will talk to her. Her head is on her desk, her hair covering her face. She wonders, does anyone pity her? Why won't anyone sit next to her or at least talk to her? Where is the kind smile that everyone talks about? She's lonely, and nobody notices.

But life goes on.

He notices her, the way her hair is kind of messy but she doesn't care. She lets it fall around her face, and he can see the lonliness in her eyes. He wants to talk to her, but she won't like him. So he sits far away, wondering what could happen. Doing nothing but wondering. He's lonely, and she doesn't notice.

But life goes on.

She sits in the back, watching everyone. She has friends, but they're school friends. They're the type to pretend to be interested and act like her life is oh so important. But she and her friends both know they won't want to hang out at her house or have dinner with her family. They just don't care. And so she sits alone, observing and not talking.

But life goes on.

He lets out his pain in ways that many teenagers do. He wears long sleeves and long pants and everyone makes fun of him. He just smiles, knowing they'll never know the real reason why. She watches him, feeling bad that she can't help with his problems. So nothing changes, and they both suffer.

But life goes on.

Everyone suffers. Everyone is lost, looking for that star in the sky to guide them. Sometimes, that star takes a while to be found. In the meantime, follow your own star. Your heart is the only thing in the world that can control you. While you wait for the star to show up, follow your personal star.

Because life goes on.

Let it.
