Ezekial's pov.
*BRING*
Finally, I think to myself as I get up from my chair and walk out of class. I hear Ailee's rushed footsteps behind me.
"Stop following me." I mumble speeding up. I hear her stop and I smirk. Then I hear her running toward me. I tense up hoping she passes me.
Of course she walks beside me instead.
"Why are you so grumpy?" She asks. "We have the same classes, and I don't know my way around so it's easier if I just follow you." I ignore her but she doesn't seem to take the hint. " AND we are both meeting up with your friends now." She continues and I swear I might explode if she keeps talking. She has sat next to me in all of our classes and comments on everything, so I haven't been able to concentrate on anything since I met her.
She keeps jabbering all the way to the picnic table we agreed to meet the others at. The sun is shining bright and the wind gently shakes the trees. All of the tables are rectangular, the long sides have benches attached that can seat about four to five people if they squish together. Leon is already sitting at our table, staring at his phone with headphones on, completely content on ignoring the rest of the world. His deep blue eyes are focused on whatever's on his phone. He has an angular fringe of black hair. Ailee walks over and sits next to him. She startles him and he takes off his headphones and puts his phone down. He looks down at the table while Ailee takes off her backpack and puts it on the ground behind her, next to Leon's. I walk over and sit across from Leon, placing my backpack down too.
"Hey Leo." I say offering him a comforting smile becuase I know he's uncomfortable around new people, and Ailee fits perfectly into the category of "new people".
"Hi Zeke." He says with a small smile. He turns to Ailee not wanting to be rude. "Hi Ailee." He says not meeting her eyes.
"Hello Leon." She says happily. Leon gives her a smile, though I know it's just to be nice when it doesn't reach his eyes. I doubt if Ailee noticed, or she's just glad he smiled at her because she smiles, showing all of her shiny white teeth. I roll my eyes and look behind me, searching for Finn and Sage. I turn back to Leon.
"Do you think they forgot?" I ask him, thinking if they did that I could just go home.
"No," Leon says looking past me at all the students leaving school, probably looking for them too. "I don't think they would forget meeting up." He continues. I nod knowing they probably wouldn't. Leon goes back to using his phone, and Ailee grabs a book out of her backpack and starts reading. I grab my phone out of my pocket and I'm about to text Finn to ask where they are, when someone covers my eyes with their hands.
"Guess whooo." I hear a familiar singsong voice say.
"Hey Finn." I say smiling. He takes his hands away from my face.
"Hi Zekey," He says sitting down next to me. Sage sits down across from us, next to Leon. The wind blows at her long dark blonde hair, and I know it annoys her when she rolls her hazel eyes, while tying her hair back. We all greet each other and once we're done, we make small talk until I see that there are no more students or teachers exiting the school.
"Hey guys?" I say interrupting Finn and Ailee's argument about which kind of chocolate is the best.
"It's milk chocolate, and that's final!" Finn exclaims. I hear Ailee mumble something about it actually white chocolate, but I don't think Finn cares because he's focused on me, waiting to hear what I have to say. Leon, Sage, and Ailee are also looking at me.
"Well, it's about Ailee." I say searching for the right words on how to explain this. They all glance toward Ailee, then look back at me waiting for me to continue. Ailee looks surprised and is staring at me as if she's unsure about what I'm going to say. "She," I start, looking down at the table. "She can make people tell the truth." I force myself to finish, and look up to see their faces. Leon is looking down, confusion written all over his face. Finn is staring into space as if there's a puzzle he's trying to solve. Sage is confused looking to Ailee for confirmation. And Ailee... Is staring straight at me eyes wide and a look of horror painted on her features. I shrug, and wait for someone to say something.
"Woah." Finn says and turns to face Ailee, "That's wild." He says grinning at her. She looks confused.
"W-what?" Ailee stammers and I know that she's stunned. She opens her mouth, then shuts it, not knowing what to say. Finn watches her amused.
"Well, I," Finn points to himself, "can instantly heal my injuries, or other peoples' injuries." He says a wide smile glued to his face. When Ailee's eyes get even wider I smirk. "Wanna see?" He asks, but doesn't wait for a response before he takes scissors out of his backpack and slices his hand. Ailee gasps. Finn winces, then concentrates on the cut. Slowly the skin pulls itself back together, and he wipes away the blood. Ailee is staring at his hand. "Pretty cool huh?" He says.
"Uh, yeah.." Ailee says, unsure of the right words.
"I have biokinesis." Sage tells her. "That means I can change what I look like." She explains. She points to her eyes and they change from hazel to dark green.
"Woah." Ailee says, astonished. Sage blushes, and changes her eyes back to their normal color. Everyone looks at Leon, waiting for him to say something. Or do something. He notices and looks away.
"I-I can phase through things." He mumbles looking down at the table. He takes a deep breath and places his hand on the table. He stares at it for a moment. Then... His hand passes straight through the table.
"That's so cool." Ailee says. Leon shrugs.
We talk some more about our abilities till I have to leave.
"Please don't go." Finn says, his gorgeous blue eyes full of sorrow.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I tell him. "And since it'll be saturday we might be able to spend the whole day together." I continue. Finn immediately perks up and smiles at me.
"Great!" He exclaims.
"Bye Finn." I say getting up from the bench and grabbing my backpack. He stands up and gives me a quick kiss.
"Bye bye." He says. I say goodbye to the others and they wave, responding with 'see you tomorrow' and 'bye Zeke'. I walk to my car, get in, and drive back to my house.
