My Lover or My Husband

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

I met my lover

In the autumn

When the world

Was colder,

I met my husband

In the spring

When the world

Was bright,

We fell in love

And danced

Through the night

And the world

Was on fire –

Alight by the blaze

Of my heart.

But as we grew up

My heart grew too

And I surely sorely

Felt deeply for

Another;

I met my lover

When my heart

Was older.

O’ please in my

Words do not

Despair,

For there is still

Time for me

To choose for

Whom I am to

Care.

My lover or my husband?

O’ I shall despair.
