Outside Looking In

By Aaron Ponce

You sit there alone thinking.Scared of what your mind conjures up.You’re alone worried.Days go by slower and slower.Yet you still look forward for tomorrow.Yet when tomorrow comes and you feel the same way as you always do.You thought it would’ve been a new day. Then you’re alone again thinking. What was I hoping for? It’s dark. You’re still there sitting. You wonder why life has pushed you this far.Why you feel this way. It’s getting darker. The darkness is swirling around you.Sucking you in. You try not to let go.It’s harder to breath. You’re chocking. Then it gets quiet. You’re outside looking in you can’t feel anything. You see yourself through your window. You’re hanging. You just stare at yourself. You’re fading into the darkness. You turn and walk away saying nothing. You finally decide to let go and for once you feel at peace.

Author Notes: My family suffers from depression from myself to my mother and sisters. This was written at a time when I felt at my lowest. Writing has help me cope with my struggles and face them head on.
