It was an awesome sight

Over a hundred gigs

Ploughing forwards

Fighting against the waves

Going up and down.

Within those gigs

There were hundreds of rowers

Going back and forth

Pulling the oars

With all their might.

In, out – in, out

Went those oars

Huge swells coming

Off the blades.

There were coxes too

Egging the rowers on

Shouting their throats dry.

All those rowers

Were taking part

In something big.

They were taking part

In the Isles of Scilly

World Gig Championship.
