River of Ink

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

I am coming to a city,

A new life where I hope

Things will change for me

Things will be good and life

Will be exciting and my work

Will be easy now I shall have life

Experience, but city life will be hard

For a girl who has not lived in the city

All her life like everyone else In this city

I am coming to, but I heard in this city there

Is a river that runs through the centre like a rip

But also not like a rip like a vein running through

This city that I am coming to, perhaps I will write

Beside the river and my pen upon the paper will flow

Like the water in the river in this city that I am coming to
