Silence

By hazel basil

silence swirls around me

no sounds

the busy life i used to lead

bursts

into silence

the noises i used to hear

music blasting

voices chattering, laughing, singing

gone

silent

i have so much time

i have time to sleep now

i don't have to skip dinner anymore

too much time

too little to do

the silence hurts my ears

i close my eyes

hoping to escape back into the noise

but it ends too soon

and i have to return to

silence

Author Notes: this is kinda a sequel to Can't Slow Down, my first poem
