Silence

Why are some people silent

when they have something to say,

we never trust ourselves to talk

and our instincts always get in the way.

There’s always someone who tries to talk

their mouths moving up and down,

but fear will always override their words

turning their mouth into a frown.

Sometimes we just break

the silence is never enough,

we scream, shout, and yell

acting as if we are tough.

No one should decide to stay silent

through the course of several days,

the sun will always shine through

with all of its golden rays.

Somtimes silence is necessary

to keep us from falling apart,

we act as if we’re okay

to contain the pain of our aching heart.

Everyone wants to be heard

everyone wants to step out,

but no one with silence ever will

their minds too clouded with doubt.

Choose to be yourself

know that that’s okay,

one of these days you may choose

for it to finally be your day.
