Some Nights
By Oxygen
Some nights,
when the air is warm and the city is asleep
I feel like I can rule the world.
As if the fire hydrant on the corner of my street
Could be my throne
And the stars above could be my crown.
But then the mirror comes crashing down
And I’m left with the dust of my own love
Shards of my broken heart
And remains of my throne.
If I were given the chance
Perhaps I could pick myself up,
Heal the wounds and cuts made by shards of glass.
