A Song of Ivory and Ebony

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

A sea of black and white

Equally divided by ruled

Lines, separating the ebony

From the ivory in a world

Of good and evil – a world

Where everything is pure

And binding – everything

Is one or the other;

Such a world will never exist

Any more than I shall grow

Wings and fly over the

Roof tops and sleep as a

Star in the night, but like

My wings it shall try, but

Luckily for us it shall never

Be, a world of ivory and ebony.
