face upturned
palms spread wide
you look up
at the clouds in the sky

a tiny droplet
shatters
as it collides
with your skin

the torrential downpour
is starting
the worms are coming out
and the sky is singing

every drop that hits the ground
creates a single noise
that mingles with others
in euphonious harmony

this
is the song
of the sky

let
it
rain

drip
drop
drip drop
plink

so here we are
on our driveways
our porches
our yards

giving a standing ovation
for this concert
of the
sky

this lovely concerto
this grande finale
that frees you from worry
and tangles you in peace

of the sky

now comes the thunder
the lightning soon follows
drowning out your worries
in its sound

and all the earth
is on it’s feet
applauding this grand
soliloquy

your face is still upturned
your palms still open wide
as you stand in the rain
