Sorry, wrong person
By Chloe
A small tap on my shoulder and I turned to see a girl
A girl I had never seen
To me, she was a stranger
I wondered who she thought I was
Did I remind her of a lost friend
Did I remind her of family
“Oh, sorry,” she muttered
I knew she hoped I was someone else
I knew how that felt
Your insides wanting to melt
That sense of disappointment
Wanting to see the one who brings you joy
But it was the wrong person
It always is.
