SPARK of ROMANCE

One day, a man, called Jeff, was standing alone on a headland, gazing out to sea.
Jeff was reflecting on his life up until that point.
His magical childhood, fun times at school and studying art at college.
He then dwelled on everything he had done after leaving college.
Painting at first, followed by sculpting, climbing and rowing. Now it was travelling.
Yes, Jeff’s life had always been and still was, full of excitement and joy.
Although, something had always been missing and that was a romantic relationship.
Most of Jeff’s friends at primary and secondary school were girls and at college too.
A few he fancied, but asking them out, was out of the question.
The thing was, more than one girl fancied him at the same time.
That would have sent sparks of jealousy and competition flying.
So Jeff had no choice, but to set romance aside until his college years were over.
After leaving college he tried again with romance, but still without success.
The women he took a fancy too either had boyfriends, or husbands.
Yes, wherever Jeff went, he ended up in a blind alley.
Now he was a forty-year-old bachelor.
He was about to leave the headland, when something unexpected happened.
A woman around his age, came right up and stood next to him. She had blue eyes and long, bright red hair.
Jeff stared at the woman, who stared right back. He found her very attractive.
The next thing he knew, he was talking with her.
To begin with, he introduced himself to the woman, who did likewise.
The woman’s name, was Jenny.
Jenny could tell that something was on Jeff’s mind. She asked him to share it with her.
So Jeff told Jenny about his life and his romantic issues.
After that, Jenny did the same.
It turned out, that Jenny had experienced the same romantic troubles as Jeff.
To add to it, she told Jeff that she was single.
For a moment, Jeff wondered whether he was in for a chance. After all, he had taken a shine to Jenny at first sight. There was one thing. Did Jenny feel the same way about him?
After meeting one another, Jeff and Jenny became the best of friends.
They dined out, danced, went to the movies, travelled, those kinds of things.
As time went on, Jeff and Jenny grew closer and closer together.
Then at long last, romance kicked in.
A spark of romance.
One day they got married and lived happily ever after.
