The Apology

By Sachin Varghese

"Dad", Jack said. "I want to say something."

His dad was silent.

"I just wanted to say thanks for everything you've done for me. I know we got in to fights and stuff, but I realize it was all for my own good. Thanks for always being there for me when I needed you the most."

Silence..

"I know you were angry at me yesterday when I got into that fight at the pub. I was lucky you were there to stop me. I'm sorry about that. And I'm sorry about what happened after that. I shouldn't have taken the wheel, dad. I should have just.. I should have just listened to you."

Jack began sobbing uncontrollably, as he limped away from his father's grave.

Author Notes: Sometimes, people can only express their true feelings when it's too late.
