The Ascent To To Ena (Η Ανάβαση στο Ένα)
-From the Meletic Scrolls.
In life, we embark on a journey of discovery, one that brings forth knowledge and understanding, shaping our wisdom and giving substance to our existence. This journey is not merely a movement through time and space, but a transformation. It is an unfolding of self-awareness that guides us towards something greater. This process is what the Greeks referred to as Anodos (Ἄνοδος), meaning "the ascent." It is a path of elevation, which is an elevation of the mind beyond ignorance, an elevation of the soul beyond turmoil, and an elevation of the body through purification. It is the refinement of the self, a conscious act of cleansing and renewal and most importantly, the realisation of our connection with (To Ένa) the One.
As we ascend, our path is one of fulfilment. Each step taken brings us closer to enlightenment, and with each step, we shed the burdens that once weighed us down. This is not a sudden event; instead, it is a gradual progression, an unfolding of truth and awareness that deepens with every moment of contemplation. It is a journey of catharsis, where we purge ourselves of the disorder within, allowing healing and harmony to take root.
What is it that we ascend towards? Many people might interpret this as a journey towards a heaven or a deity, but the ascent to To Ena is beyond such notions. It transcends the concept of worship and divinity as understood in religious traditions. To Ena is not a god to be prayed to, nor a celestial realm to be reached after death. Rather, it is the ultimate oneness of existence that is a present reality that we reconnect with through our conscious awakening.
To envision this, imagine walking up an endless stairway in the clouds at night. The path is long and narrow, and at its end, there is a radiant light. As you walk forth, step by step, the light does not waver nor diminish. Instead, it remains steadfast, guiding you onwards. With every step, its brilliance intensifies, enveloping you in its natural warmth. When you finally reach it, you do not merely stand before it; you become one with it. You are no longer separate from the light, for you are the light. This is the essence of the ascent to To Ena. It is the moment when our consciousness dissolves into the oneness of existence, and we are no longer confined to the illusions of separateness.
The journey of ascent is guided by three fundamental elements in Meleticism. They are the following:
Henosis (Ἕνωσις)
–The union with To Ena. This is the state of connection, where we accept our oneness with the whole.
Epistrophis (Ἐπιστροφή)
–The return to To Ena. This is the path of rediscovery, the process of coming back to the truth we have always known deep within.
Anodos (Ἄνοδος)
–The ascent to To Ena. This is the elevation of our consciousness, the climb towards greater awareness and understanding.
Whilst meditation and contemplation serve as the actual means by which we begin to connect with To Ena, it is the deeper awakening of our consciousness that allows us to truly ascend. This is not an ascent in a physical sense; one does not climb a literal mountain or enter a sacred temple to reach it. It is not a location to be sought nor a tangible place to be entered. To Ena is already present within and around us, existing in all things and beyond all things. To ascend is to become aware of its enlightening presence, to align our being with its reality.
Some people may struggle with this concept, as it defies conventional perceptions of existence. We often seek external validation of truth, looking for signs, visions or divine revelations. To Ena does not reveal itself through miraculous displays. Instead, it is discerned through deep reflection and the shedding of sheer illusions. The ascent is not about reaching a higher plane in a supernatural sense, because it is about reaching a higher state of awareness, which is a consciousness unshackled from ignorance and illusion.
It is important to understand that whilst the ascent is of the mind and soul, the body is not to be neglected or dismissed as unimportant. The body is not a mere vessel to be abandoned in pursuit of higher consciousness. It is an integral part of our being, operating in harmony with the mind and soul. Without balance amongst these three, our ascent is hindered.
Whilst it is true that our physical form is bound to the material world and cannot traverse into the realms of pure consciousness as the mind can, this does not render it irrelevant. The body is the foundation upon which our journey begins. It is through the body that we experience life, and through life, we gain the wisdom necessary for our ascent. To neglect the body would be to neglect the essential experiences that shape our awareness.
Thus, the journey to To Ena does not require the denial of physical existence, but its refinement. We must care for our bodies just as we care for our minds, ensuring that both are in harmony. A neglected body leads to a restless mind, and a restless mind cannot ascend. Balance is significant, as well are temperance in action, moderation in desire and discipline in thought.
To ascend is to awaken. It is to perceive life not merely as a sequence of events, but as a continuous unfolding of meaning. Each experience, each challenge, and each moment of stillness contributes to our journey. The more we reflect, the more we see the interconnection of all things. To Ena is not distant, fot it is woven into the fabric of existence itself.
This realisation brings with it a new perspective. We begin to see beyond the distractions of daily life. Every morning is no longer just another start to another day, but another opportunity to breathe, to think, to explore our consciousness. Instead of being consumed by trivial pursuits, we turn our attention to the appreciation of life itself.
Meleticism teaches us to look inwards, to find the soul within and to embrace the self in its entirety. It is a philosophy of introspection and self-discovery, a path that guides us towards a deeper understanding. In this journey, we have a choice, whether to follow the path of our vices, desires and ego, or to walk the path of virtue, wisdom and truth. The path we choose determines the course of our ascent.
Unlike religious traditions that attribute creation to a deity, Meleticism views existence as an emanation of To Ena itself. We are not separate from it, nor are we its creations; simply we are a part of it. When we die, we do not ascend to a paradise, nor do we face divine judgement. We return to To Ena, merging back into the Oneness from which we originated.
It is in life that we have the opportunity to discern this truth. The ascent to To Ena is not a journey that begins after death; it is one that unfolds in every conscious moment of our existence. It is in our thoughts, our reflections, our understanding of the self and cosmos.
The path to To Ena is not one of blind faith, but of awareness. It is not about believing in something external. Instead, it is about realising the truth within. There is no need for a god to dictate our journey, for the path is already within us. The ascent is ours to undertake, and the fate that awaits us is the fulfilment of our own conscious evolution.
To Ena is not something to be found, because it is something to be experienced. When we truly realise it, we understand that we were never separate from it to begin with. We were always one with To Ena through our inherent nature.
