"Why are you so hard on me all the time?" she asked, tears glistening in her eyes. "I always do my best. I work hard and get good grades and all that shit, but you never seem to be satisfied."

She swiped angrily at the tears that were sliding down her cheeks.

"I don’t believe that I am any harder on you than I need to be." I said gently. "All I ever ask of you is to never let yourself down"

"Why does it matter to you?" she challenged.

"Because I’m your dad," I said, "and I love you."
