The Boy

By Thomas Ray

You've known him for years,

He's the tall guy.

He built up a wall,

And he doesn't know why.

The shield isn't made to keep danger away,

It's invisible, stronger each day.

The boy knows a song

And it's breaking apart

The boy has a gift

And that gift is his heart

But he'll never show it,

Or give it away,

Cause he doesn't know what they'd say,

If they saw all the cracks.

The boy told a lie,

And it led to twelve more.

Constructed a house,

But did not make a door.

The building is full of the things he holds dear,

The echoes of things that no human will hear,

'cept for him.
