The Lie I Believed

By miller9904

Once when I was very sad,
I observed with tear-dimmed eye,
A foul untruth which seemed so wise,
That I wrote it with a sigh:

“Fair doth always turn to foul,
‘Tis simply but life’s way,
And therefore all life’s sunny skies
Are doomed to fade to gray."

But those lines which I wrote down,
Were nothing but a lie,
For with my God inside my heart,
My hope shall never die.
