The Melody of Summer

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

The soft rain falls upon the roof,

With the light beat of my heart,

As a subtle pattern of drums,

In the warm evening air,

The rain ripples the lake,

And the ripples spread out,

Until all the water seemed to revolt,

As one against the elements,

The rain tinkles like a piano,

And sings like a choir,

It’s accompanying instruments,

Are thunder and lightening,

The orchestra plays all night,

But in the morning all is forgotten
