The Present has Passed

By Classic

My hand is on his shoulder.

I whisper in his ear-

Slowly - quietly -

A story of the past.

A little boy a little prey.

A big man a big predator

Both scared - adrenaline pumping through both.

The man is a loaded gun.

If you pull his trigger - too late.

The little boy a target.

The man confused – troubled

The kid scared - afraid

The gun is diffused.

The man kneels - asks forgiveness.

The target calms.

The kid rushes - comforts.

The man confused.

The child tells the man.

“The present has passed Father”

The child - takes

The gun away from the man.

So now I will tell you the same.

“The present has passed Father -

give me your gun.”
