The Pure Being Of To Ena (Η Αγνή Ύπαρξη του Ενός)

-From the Meletic Scrolls.

(To Ένa) the One is often misunderstood in the context of traditional philosophy. It is not a creator god in the sense that most religious or philosophical systems describe a god as a being that creates, sustains or destroys. To Ena transcends the concept of deity, for it neither creates nor destroys anything. It exists beyond the known attributes associated with a creator god with attributes such as will, intention or desire. It is not an entity that can be fully discerned through the filters of human understanding. To speak of To Ena is to speak of a state of being so pure and transcendental that no human construct can truly capture its genuine essence with words.

At the core of its nature, To Ena has no specific attributes or characteristics. It is the ultimate source from which all things emanate into existence, but it does not partake in the process of becoming itself. This is because it does not become into anything from which it already is. To Ena is not limited by form, matter or the dimensions of space and time. Rather, it is the source of universal emanations, which give rise to everything that exists in the material and immaterial realms. These emanations can be thought of as the unfolding of existence itself, yet they remain connected to the purity of To Ena. To Ena is in its essence permanent, unchanging and pure, and nothing in the impermanent world can alter it. Whilst all things in existence change and pass, To Ena remains constant, undisturbed by the flux of the material world.

The fundamental nature of To Ena places it beyond the limitations of any established materiality. Whilst our being manifests in the physical reality, To Ena exists as an immaterial force. This force is not subject to the same constraints that govern the physical world, nor can it be reduced to the appearance of matter or form. To Ena does not require substance to define its existence. It simply is a singular force, limitless in scope, which cannot be confined by the laws that govern the material world. To Ena does not conform to the known dimensions of existence, for it is both the cause and the origin of the essence of all existential things, yet it transcends them in its purity.

It is important to understand that in order to define what "being" truly means, we must first acknowledge the boundaries of reality as we experience it. For most of humanity, this reality is bound to the material world, with only occasional glimpses of the abstract realms of thought. The mind constrained by the limits of space and time, cannot easily comprehend a changeless reality that is plausible. We live in a world of flux, where everything seems to become and perish with the passing of time. We speak of time as eternal, yet it is only our perception of time that gives it this quality. Time like reality itself is not a substance; it is an abstraction that reflects the process of becoming and changing.

To Ena exists beyond these abstractions, beyond the constant becoming of things. It represents a state of being that is foundational to the known concept of reality itself. In the physical world, the highest state of being is mortality, a condition where time and space govern the essence of our existence. To Ena in contrast is beyond this. The mind governs the body, and matter without form is formless. In the case of To Ena, it is the purity of its being that stands above all forms. It is not governed by time, space or matter.

The pursuit of To Ena requires a process of purification, a movement away from the world of impermanence and towards the realm of being. This journey is not of scientific understanding or theological reasoning, but a gradual realignment with To Ena; a transcendence that takes place through the operations of the Logos. The Logos is the rational principle that operates in the world, facilitating the transition from the material world of change to the timeless realm of being. To Ena, then, is not an object of worship or contemplation in the conventional sense, for it cannot be contained or understood by human reasoning alone. It is a living force that operates through the laws of the cosmos, much like the energy that pervades the universe, neither created nor destroyed.

We may attempt to understand To Ena through concepts like numbers or the elements of nature, but in truth, these tools are insufficient to capture its genuine essence. To Ena is not quantifiable or measurable. It is, in a sense, like the air we breathe; its presence is undeniable, yet it remains unseen and unattainable. To Ena is one; its many emanations, which manifest in the material world are the embodiments of this unity. Whilst we can observe the cosmos, nature and the physical elements of the world around us, none of these things can truly capture the essence of To Ena. To Ena is beyond them, and yet, it gives rise to them.

In this way, To Ena operates through the process of emanation, creating the innumerable forms that populate the cosmos and the physical world. These emanations are not independent of To Ena; they are expressions of To Ena reflecting the unity and purity of the original source. The cosmos and nature are not separate from To Ena, but are more manifestations of its being. Change is permitted by To Ena through the Logos, which governs the flow of emanations and maintains the order of the universe. It is through this process of emanation that the material world comes into being, whilst the purity of To Ena remains undisturbed by the changes it creates.

To Ena is not contingent upon the cosmos or nature for its existence. It does not depend on them in the way that physical beings depend on the material world for sustenance. Instead, To Ena is the foundation upon which all things rest, transcending the fundamental concepts of time and space that govern the physical realm. To Ena is not measured by time, nor can it be understood through the lens of temporal experience. It exists in a unique state of pure being that is both outside of time and yet, paradoxically, present within it.

The essence of To Ena is revealed through its emanations, which give rise to all forms of existence. Unlike the material world, which is subject to decay and change, To Ena remains untouched by these forces. The emanations that flow from To Ena are the lifeblood of existence, but they do not diminish or alter To Ena. The pure being of To Ena remains intact, undisturbed by the passage of time or the change of forms.

To truly connect with To Ena, one must transcend the physical realm and enter into a state of union with To Ena. This union, known as the Henosis, can only be achieved through a deep and intrinsic connection with the flow of emanations that arise from To Ena. This natural flow called the rhoi (ροή) in Greek is the energy that courses through all things, connecting the material and immaterial realms. By attuning ourselves to this flow, we become one with To Ena, transcending the limitations of our human experience and entering into the eternal state of being.

This journey towards To Ena is one of self-purification and transformation. It requires a surrendering of the ego and the physical attachments that bind us to the world of change. Through meditation and contemplation, we align ourselves with the flow of emanations and realise the true nature of To Ena. In doing so, we transcend the material realm and experience the purity of To Ena, a being that exists beyond all change and decay.

To Ena was not created from non-being, for being cannot arise from nothingness. The existence of To Ena is an eternal truth, an important principle that cannot be destroyed or altered. Were the flow of emanations to cease, the material world would fall into absolute chaos, for there would be no source of order or structure. Without the emanations of To Ena, the universe would be left without life, and all things would cease to be. As long as To Ena continues to emanate, the cycle of life and death will persist, reflecting the eternal nature of being.

Thus, To Ena represents the highest state of being, a force that transcends all forms of existence, yet gives rise to them. It is both the source and the essence of all things, remaining pure and undisturbed by the changes that define the world of impermanence. Through our connection with To Ena, we understand the true nature of reality and the eternal truth that underlies all things. In this way, we transcend the limitations of the material world and enter into the conscious realm of pure being.
