THE VANISHING TREASURE

Once upon a time, there was a young man called Jack.
Jack travelled far and wide on his black stallion, in search of riches and treasures. But he found none, well, not yet.
One day, he was riding through the mountains, when he met a six-hundred-year-old wizard, standing by a lake with an island in the centre.
The wizard conjured up a magic boat and told Jack to go to the island.
So Jack climbed into the boat, which floated to the island of its own accord.
When he reached the island, he climbed out of the boat and gazed around.
The sight, which met his eyes, was a marvel to behold. Everywhere he looked, there was treasure.
There were amulets and necklaces hanging from trees, large pots brimming with gold coins and chests full of crowns, rings, chalices, diadems and many other treasures.
Countless gems lay scattered on the emerald grass.
Jack was beside himself with joy.
He removed an amulet with a ruby in the centre and put it on. The moment he did so, the amulet vanished.
Baffled by what had happened, he put on an amulet – embedded with emeralds. It too vanished.
He tried on several more, but the same thing happened again and again.
Jack was totally stumped.
He removed a crown from one of the chests and put it on. Like the amulets, it vanished. He tried on a diadem, but it made no difference.
Now Jack was starting to get irritated.
He tried on a gold ring – embedded with emeralds, but it vanished too.
The same thing happened when he grabbed a handful of coins and when he picked up some gems.
In the end Jack gave up.
He climbed back into the boat, which carried him back to the shore.
The wizard, who was still standing there, made the boat disappear.
Jack demanded to know why the treasure on the island kept vanishing.
The wizard told him that he had put a spell on it.
He told him also, that real treasure and riches are to be found within oneself. Within the heart.
