like the moon and the stars
except the stars were replaced by the sun
we were too close
close enough to know everything about each other
yet remembering your favourite colour was difficult
we were too close
sharing clothes
and shoes
and makeup
we were too close
close enough to spend every day together
but not speak to each other in private

never left one another’s side

close enough to tell each other secrets
yet not close enough to keep them secrets hidden
