Try

By Anthony E

I ran a hundred yard sprint today and finished last.

I guess I am really just not that fast.

I ran the hurdles and banged my knee.

I guess the hurdles just wasn't meant to be

I tried the long jump but did not get far

I tried the high jump and went under the bar

Nothing seemed to work maybe I just can't do it

Then the distance runners said there is nothing to it

You don't have to run fast, you don't have to jump far

You just keep a steady pace and you can be a star

So I tried a mile then tried two and I didn't fail

Before you knew it I was burning up the trail

I found my calling, it made my heart sing

That's what you get from trying different things

It's not about the times or the places

Or about the competition at the races

Try not to think too hard, just try to do it

Find something you love and stick right to it

You may fail but you will also grow

If you never try then you will never know

Author Notes: Try different things.
