(Pine's pov.)

I pull my blanket around my body, curling myself into a ball. My mind tired from the debate of whether or not to tell him. The paper! I jump up and swing the jacket Nightshade let me borrow onto my body, I will give it back to him later. Opening my window I launch myself out into the cold night air. It stings through the jacket but I ignore the cold as I race against the wind.

One, two, three, four, and finally his window number five. I land quietly on the roof, pushing up against the window. It opens with a pop, I stick my head in. His body lays asleep in the comforts of his bed. I climb in and guietly make my way over to the trashcan.

"I knew you would come back," his voice rings out, I freeze. "I can see you, stop pretending like you aren't there." I turn around, trying to make him out in the dark. He flips the lamp on and I flinch at the sudden light. "Want this?" He questions holding up the ripped peice of paper, now expertly glued back together. "I didn't read it. I have a guess of what it is though." His voice is cold, face trying and failing to conceal his emotions, hands shaking as he clutches the paper.

"Are you going to tell me what it is or are you going to get out?" He raises an eyebrow, waiting for an answer. I shake my head, closing my eyes so I don't cry. "I-I cannot." He laughs harshly. "I talked about you to Nightshade and he wanted to use you," I stare at him. "I gave you my jacket." I look down at the jacket that hugs my body.

"Get out." It comes out cold and final. He sounds empty but I cannot tell him, I cannot let him lose everything. "I did it to protect you." I whisper, as I walk by his bed on my way to the window. "To protect me?" He yells, jumping up and slamming me against the wall.

His arm presses down on my trachea, holding me in place. "Get out." He growls, moving away from me and shoving the paper in my face. "Get out."
