Wildfires,
Burning throughout California,
Death, destruction, despair,
The feeling of being evacuated,
Knowing that everything you have,
Everyone you love,
Might be gone forever.
The fire advancing too quickly,
Burning everything in its way,
Multiple football fields per minute.
The fire is so hot,
Melting metal,
Melting rubber,
The acres burning,
The tears falling,
Nothing stands a chance.
Evacuating,
Searching for somewhere safe to stay,
Reading the news,
Seeing the number of people unaccounted for,
Watching the death toll rise,
Grieving all that is lost.
After the fire passes,
Searchers finding only bone fragments,
Of people who could not make it out in time,
Paradise, now a town of ashes.
Firemen risking their lives to save a community,
Tirelessly working day and night,
Trying to help give people one thing.
Hope,
Light in all of the darkness,
The strength to carry on,
The courage to not give up.
