You, Me, and These Walls

The eyes on the wall watch as I cry.
They see my tears and say goodbye.
I love these walls that keep me safe,
The only things I know will never change.
I stare at the blank space, above my head,
Wondering if life will ever cast a light in its stead.
It takes time to build foundation,
But I can’t help but feel the hesitation,
When we speak,
Is it your head or your heart that I’m talking to?
When we touch,
Is it your body or mind that I feel?
These walls with eyes,
See too many things.
They see the way we fall apart,
They see the way we slowly
Drift away.
Sometimes we’re in unison,
Two minds think alike.
But sometimes,
One misspoken word is an automatic
Strike.
I like to think I know you,
But I can’t pretend to know the things that go on
In your mind anymore.
The walls, they’re so thin,
They wait for a secret they can
Spin.
Spin, out of control, you do.
I watch as the walls slowly cave in,
Engulfing any screams or sounds you make.
I watch as they take their revenge for so many things they’ve stood by
Without making a word.
The walls are done watching.
Author Notes: Wow it's been a while since I've written on here (I'll attribute that to me blatantly forgetting my password for so long). It feels good to be back since I've gained a rice grain of wisdom.
