I enjoyed it.
One thing I noticed though was maybe a little too much description at the intense moments e.g. "...entering the water, if only up to the laces of her hazel brown walking boots". In my opinion, it detracted from the tension. In other parts though your descriptions worked well.

I enjoyed this story, your characters are believable and your descriptions are evocative. Keep it up.

Great! I loved the suspense!
I think a word other than 'goo' would have been better though for the human remains.
(Also, a couple of spelling mistakes like 'whale' instead of 'wail' - hope that's not being pernickety.....)
