1) one thing I always do before publishing my stories on here is I copy and paste them into word, then use word to correct all the grammer, and spelling errors I miss (it is ussually a lot!) you can also use google docs, or even gramerly if you have it.
2) Plan out what your going to write in your head before you write it. I some times spend days thinking of a storie before I ever get around to actually writing it. This will help you see all the ways you can write the story, and all the options on how it can end, or the differnt things you could put in it. I have found it helps me make my stories the best they can be.
3) Look EVERYWHERE for inpiration for your stories! Did you know that Charles Dickens wrote some of his books based on his aful childhood, and some parts of his stories where inpired by his time in debters prision as a child! See even the worst times in you life can help you make amazing books/ stories!
4) You need to know more about your storie than you tell your readers. (I mean come on you are the author) This is you storie, and your characters. So to help you write with more confidence, you need to know you characters (by know, I mean know everything about them but you know with in reason) because if you know your characters, then that will help you know you storie, if you know what I mean ;)
5) don't be hard on your self! You not going to start and instantly be the next Charles Dickens, things like this take time and practice! You could start b just writing down story ideas in a notebook, then you could try to expand on those ideas, this will help you improve your writing.
6) READ!!!! How are you ever going to become the best writer, with out reading? That like trying to cook with out ever seeing some one cook! It makes things way harder! So get out there and read, read book from some of the best author, and take notes (on paper, or mental whatever works) about what makes their stories so good, and try to find some pointers to help you improve your writng skils. (but this does not mean copy there work, just try and be inpireded, or uses some habits they use in their writing)
7) Have fun! Writing short stories is suposed to be fun! So write about what you want to write about (you know with in reason) and make it fun! If its not fun and more of a chore try to write about something else, but remeber writing may not be your thing, because not everyone is the best at everything (if they were life woud be boring) so try to find what your good at!
8)Pratice, practice, practice! I know I already said this, but it just that important!
9)Give the reader a character they can root for, you know a character that they can love! Cause if they love the character then they most likely love the storie! So make a like able character is all I am saying
10) If your writing in chapters, like I do you need to use CLIFHANGERS, so the reader will came back to read the next chapter, and the next, then so on. Because lets be honest who can handle the supense? that is what makes a story so good!
11) no trash words! these are word like cool, awsome, mean, nice, they are just so blend, so try and mix it up and use words like horendious, spectaualler, words with more paza! they will help brighten up your story, and draw readers in!
12) complete sentences, there is nothing harder to read (beside like maybe anouther language, but just maybe) than an incomplete sentence, it just does not make sense! And at times they make my brain hurt! So no more headachs, use complete sentences!
13) To get others to love your storie first you have to love it your self, but this does not mean that just because you love your storie everyone who reads it is going to love it just as much. It will just help improve your writing experiance!
14) this tip is more for when you read other people work, but I just have to put this in here. Everyone is a beginer at some point, so cut them some slack! at least they are trying!
15) You can't just wish for an idea! Every writer I am sure at some point had no idea what to write and thats ok, sometimes it takes some time to get an idea, thats just the way of life.
Author Notes: Please tell me if these helped you, and what you think of them.
