Are We There Yet?

“Are we there yet?” Ginny asked her brother.

“Of course not, silly” he replied distractedly, his eyes glued to the game he was playing on his smart ‘phone.

“Oh, I thought we would be by now” Ginny said in that world-weary tone of voice that only six year old kids seem to be able to muster.

“It’s dark though, Patrick.” Ginny observed. “We usually get there when it’s dark”

“Ginny,” Patrick sighed impatiently, “we’re still at home. You fell asleep ten minutes ago. We’re in the car on the drive, waiting for mum and dad to come” he told her.
